.............. IMF formed in the spring of 1989, with the original lineup of George Boswell as singer and guitarist, Zac Webb on Bass, and Jeff Weirheim on Drums. By the end of the year they'd decided to put Jeff on guitar to free up George as a front man, and recruited Erik Peterson to play drums. They recorded their first demo "Corkscrew Pain" in January of 1990, They played a number of parties, and did their first club show at McGreggors later that winter as an opener for Out Of Order. In the following spring, due to some tension between band members George left, which is when I was asked to join as his replacement. We started playing as many shows as we possibly could. We played such clubs as Medusa's, Thirsty Whale, McGreggors, Avalon, Fotch's and The Outhouse in Lawrence KS. We played with some great bands too, like Smoking Popes, Pink Lincolns, Sloppy Seconds, Ultraman, Apocalypse Hoboken, Naked Raygun, Jaw Box, 8-bark, Pegboy, etc. We released a demo in 1990 called "Stregnth Speed and Beauty" and a 7'EP on Underdog Records called "Brother Flywheels Revenge". In the spring of 1991 Jeff left to go into the airforce, and Mike Skroch a.k.a. Scratch joined on as the new guitarist. Towards the end of that summer we did a recording in Steve Albini's basement studio, but before we had a chance to release it, Zac joined forces with Jim Coleo from Naked Raygun in a band called Mothertrucker. Since Zac was the only original IMF member at that time, the rest of us decided to call it quits. A few months later, Erik started working with a guitarist named Jim Bronson, and they were looking for other musicians to do a band called The Hidden. Mothertrucker broke up, so Zac joined them, and then I followed. A couple months into that band Jim quit, so we called Scratch, and it was IMF all over again. I stayed with The Hidden for about a year, and then was replaced by Brian McNally. The Hidden continued on for a few years following that. Recently we've all gotten back in touch with each other, and decided that all the old videos, and audio tapes should be preserved on disk. This lead to me wanting to set up this MySpace profile. We were only around for a short time. But most of the memories we have from that time are good. -Paulhttp://www.skepticsremainunconvinced.com/IMF_home.htmI remember IMF (part 1)
