Kyle Simpson

I am a trumpeter/composer from the Twin Cities area in Minnesota (Lakeland). I attended Lawrence University Conservatory of Music (Appleton, WI) as an Undergraduate, where I learned from the amazing teachers like Fred Sturm, Ken Schaphorst, and Bob Levy. Also did graduate work at University of Montana (Missoula, MT) in composition with Charles Nichols.Have also worked with Maria Schneider, Vince Mendoza, Dave Douglas, and Jack Smalley in developing composition, who have helped me immensely to develop my compositional voice. I cannot begin to show my grattitude to all the amazing teachers who have inspired me throughout.Recently, I had the priveledge to tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra playing and writing occasionally for them. The amazing musicians in the Glenn Miller band and the musicians I have met on the road, from LA to New York, continue to inspire me. All of you whom are my friends on myspace have influenced me and will continue to be a part of my musical life. Whether I meet a young musician just coming into High School or a veteran musician who has lived twenty musical lives compared to mine, they have all impacted me and shared a genuine musical and social experience. I will treasure those moments.Now I am living in Pittsburgh (Squirrel Hill) but will be moving to Washington PA shortly. I am teaching at a small liberal arts college called Washington & Jefferson. I have already met some of the most amazing people and musicians in the Pittsburgh area. I look forward to meeting more exciting and fascinating people like you!
