Band Members: Vocal and guitar Norberto Curvêlo / Bass Allê Barbosa / Drums Beto Martins / Triangle Júnior / Zabumba (percussion) Serginho/ Accordion Clécio Carvalho*******The album ‘Você vai ver’ (You’ll see) featured special people such as Tribal, Ricardinho, Adail Scarpeline, Léo Macêdo, Nilce Pink, Karine Rosseli e Ninho da Zabumba. The band’s name, "Cangaia de Jegue", pays tribute to the region where the band started, in southwest Bahia. There are many ‘jegues’ (small donkeys) in this region, with their ‘cangaias’ – the type of saddle used there. It’s a strong name which carries a regional and humorous flavor. In fact, humor on stage is the band’s trademark, so this funny name is already part of our daily life
Influences: Talking about musical influences is, in a way, an unfair matter, because the process of developing a musical style is always ongoing, and lots of different styles were heard during the band formation. Even in a slight touch, the color of the songs we listened or listen to today is in our DNA’s sound, although it might not be so evident at first. We listen to Soul Music, Jazz, Bossa, African and instrumental music. Ed Mota, Munir Hossn, Bona, Lokua, Peu Meurray, Trio Nordestino, Hermeto, Lenine, are some names. However, the band’s main reference is the ‘Forró’, a typical style from the northeast of Brasil, with its different rhythms: ‘xote’, ‘baião’ and ‘chachado’. Our goal is to make the warm, involving type of music that was created by a wise old man called Luiz Gonzaga. Gonzaga, together with Dominguinhos, another accordion wizard, became icons of the Brazilian music and deserve all our respect. The work of these two geniuses is the major inspiration of Cangaia de Jegue.
