Originally from Florida, I'm a mixed breed! My mom is half Japanese and half Korean. My dad is German/Irish and Cherokee Indian. At the age of 12 my father decided to move the family to Tokyo, Japan. There I attented ASIJ (American School in Japan) which is among the oldest and most respected international schools in the world. It provided a multicultural haven, one that is rich in the arts! It was a melting pot, but everyone at this school spoke English. I went to school with Ivy Leaguers and I learned quickly that it was sink or swim.
While in school I studied Japanese architectural design by working with my uncle, who owned his own architectural company. It was interesting, because I was able to see the inner workings from a blank page to the final project. The many cultures that made up ASIJ also provided me with a chance to broaden and deepen my appreciation of my surroundings.
In Japan, things are so much smaller. At first I was in culture shock, you could literally reach out and touch your next door neighbor's house! Coming back to the states, I realized how many of us take the most simple things for granted. How much land we have, how good we really have it. We have resources so readily available to us so we are able to obtain the finer things in life.
My father's business brought us back to the states, Long Island, NY. At 16 it was sink or swim again! It was my senior year and I had to learn to make friends quick. I graduated from Huntington High and went on to study Business Management at State University of NY. An internship quickly led me to Wall Street and a position with JP Morgan, where I stayed for 3 years. Corporate finance in mergers and acquisitions. Accelerating my degree to graduate in a year and a half, life for me wasn't about to slow down!
In the meantime, frequent trips to Florida fueled other passions. I would visit all of my friends in Daytona just to get out of the cold. The fast paced years in Japan and New York city only served to prepare me for the relaxed lifestyle of Florida. Moving back in "99 I went back to school, this time graduating UCF with a degree in Special Education. I taught kids with ADD and ADHD - I loved teaching!
Most of my friends tease and call me "flashy", because I don't do anything small. Though I am also known to be a walking contradiction, I believe that you only get one chance to make a first impression.
While teaching I continued to explore my artistic interests and earned my license at Florida State in Interior Decorating. When a path led me to a sales position with a local developer I found I loved showing people these beautiful new homes. That is when I made the transition into real estate. I like to have diversity in my life. I recently have decided to take a new direction into Health, Life & Annuities insurance because the real estate market is dormant. New challenges await and I am so excited to be in this new field!
I love sports, growing up both my parents were athletes. My dad was recruited by the Dallas Cowboys and my mom was an International Ballerina. I love football and basketball and most of all love to dance! I have to have music in my life - it's definitely a MUST.
To be fulfilled you must do what you love and love what you do! What I love most about my career are the friends I've made. All the people I've met have become my life's portfolio. I believe that a part of being successful in any career is to be caring, and to prove that you understand them in order to gain trust.
Learning to remain calm in any given situation is also key. Given there is a right time and place for everything!
Sometimes people look at me like I've got two heads but whenever I've said "I wish..." I've been very blessed to receive, because it has happened. Everything I've ever dreamed so far has come true...
I'm not afraid to take risk! You only live once so give it your all! Carpe diem!_______________________________________________________
