Believe it or not, there's life after High School

About Me

Silver Dollar is a collective of like minded musicians with one purpose.....To bring a little traditional Jamaican Ska and Reggae to the Tri-State area.
Originally, the idea was tossed about by Jimbo and Skooch to put together a Ska band that simply covered the Skatalites and other favorites. In time things started to fall into place and the lineup was established once Django, John and Tim joined the band. After initially rehearsing a set of covers, the core of the band decided to start writing some original material and low and behold.....it worked. In June of 2007, Johnny B joined the band on Trumpet to balance out the horn section and add even more of the traditional Jamaican sound that the band thrives on. In July of 2007, Mr P.C. joined us on Alto Saxophone to fully round out the horns and bring his background in Jazz.
With a foundation in the many styles of Jamaican music, Silver Dollar has added some of their other influences liberally to the mix. Ska, Reggae, Rocksteady, Latin Jazz, Bop, Soul, Blues and even Surf have all come together to form what is now the Silver Dollar sound.
The band's members have played with Inspecter 7, Skinnerbox, Stereo Freeze, The Hub City Stompers, Stubborn All Stars, The Brimstones, Lime Red, The Boilers, The Cosmic Brotherhood of Ra and more.
