About Me

With strong influences of classic rock blended with modern pop, soul, and r&b, singer/songwriter Kristen Sellers’s vocals have been compared to everyone from Heart’s Ann Wilson to Christina Aguilera. A Minnesota native, Kristen relocated to Orlando, FL in 1999 as its pop music scene exploded. It was there that she met vocal coach and mentor Beverly Eustice, mother of ’N Sync founder Chris Kirkpatrick and former coach to ’N Sync tourmates ’Boyz & Girlz United’.
While in Florida Kristen participated in several talent contests and showcases for companies such as MTV, VH1, Fox Television and FreeLance Entertainment, as well as major labels such as Sony, Virgin and J Records. She was a top 8 and top 15 finalist for ’In the Spotlight’ and ’You’re Going to Be a Star’, contests held by Wright Entertainment Group (Justin Timberlake, P. Diddy, Janet Jackson), where she did a live radio interview/performance on the popular ’Doc & Johnny Morning Show’ on Orlando’s XL106.7 and performed at the House of Blues. She has had the honor of singing the National Anthem for several NBA, MLB and MLS games, along with Minor League, Independent League, and Amatuer Baseball games.
After returning to the Twin Cities in 2004 Kristen performed with classic rock cover-band ’Class Clown’ and began writing material with Minneapolis producer Matt Kirkwold (’Quietdrive’, ’GB Leighton’, ’Mudvayne’), later joining r&b/soul/funk band ’Power of 10’ in early 2006. Later that summer she earned a spot in the MN State Fair Talent Contest Semi-Finals, performing at one of the largest state fairs in the country. In July ’07 she landed in the top 3 of the ’Twin Cities Idol’ competition and was invited back to the MN State Fair Talent Contest Semi-Finals. There she ended up in the top 20 after taking 2nd place in the Open Division on opening night. Kristen then auditioned for the 7th season of ’American Idol’ in Omaha, NE with an estimated 10,000 other auditionees. She was one of less than 100 contestants there to advance to round 3 and audition in front of the show’s executive producers. Currently Kristen is preparing an acoustic show with singer/songwriter/guitarist Daniel Switch (www.myspace.com/listen2switch) and working on original material. She can also be heard every Thursday morning on the KFAN ’Power Trip Morning Show’ as an American Idol Correspondent (AM 1130 in Minneapolis or at KFAN.com).

American Idol Recap: Top 20 (Girls)

They keep insisting that this is the 'most talented group ever' and I'm just not sold. Can some people sing? Sure. But I've heard plenty of people who are just as good (if not better) in local bars an...

American Idol Recap: Top 24 Night 2

The ladies didn't really bring it like I thought they would (which, even though there's plenty of time left, reaffirms my early prediction that a guy will win this year). I know there's plen...
