About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 Alison ScottTrue soul comes from the most unexpected places, like a song on someone else’s radio drifting across the traffic lanes during rush hour. But you have to be listening or you might miss out. People are listening to Alison Scott and feeling the kind of soul that they’ve been missing in too much of today’s music. Alison’s remarkable songwriting and drop dead gorgeous vocals channel the same spirits as Carole King, Patty Griffin, Laura Nyro and other keepers of music’s true flame. But her unique style is so powerful that once you’ve heard her, you’ll recognize her sound forever, every time you hear it. When Alison sits at the piano and sings, audiences truly resonate right along with her; singers this strong are rare, but those who are real songwriters as well are almost extinct! At the tender age of 23 Alison has released her debut album “Wish On The Moon”, working with A-level Minneapolis musicians who can see something very special happening. The live performances are amazing; with players like Peter Anderson on drums (Honeydogs, Polara, Golden Smog), Steve Price (Rex Daisy) and Kevin Bowe (Paul Westerberg) this band has developed an internal intuition very different than what you typically see in clubs. Grammy winning producer Kevin Bowe (Jonny Lang, Etta James) first met Alison at a songwriting contest (which she won) and plans for the recording were begun. “When this quiet young girl walked into my studio and started playing her songs I was shocked at the depth of her writing, not to mention that voice which goes from zero to 90 in about half a second. I knew right then this was going to be a great record and that she would write most of it herself”. Minneapolis tastemakers are taking note...Craig Grossman (Green Room Booking) says "Alison Scott is a cool, oxygen alternative to the stale air coming out of many singer-songwriters today. Her fresh approach to songwriting around a piano will leave you fully satisfied, feeling clear headed and ready for more." Chris Roberts from Minnesota Public Radio is another believer after seeing her perform, “Singer/songwriter Alison Scott impressed the crowd with her soaring, agile voice.” Her riveting performances have made her a favorite at The Varsity Theater where manager Erik Stromstad says “Alison Scott is an amazing young talent. Her voice is one in a million. She has such a beautiful, deep, and soulful tone. I got chills the first time I saw her perform....I knew that I was seeing something extraordinary." Radio is quickly coming on board as well... Brian Turner (“BT” Cities 97 morning show DJ) adds “We have a remarkable number of artists and groups play music and make magic in our performance suite, Studio C, here at Cities 97. It should be noted that we are one of seven radio stations, all under one roof in our broadcast facility in the Twin Cities. And one of our best gauges of the quality of the Studio C performances is how many fellow broadcasters make their way out of their respective radio studios, and head down to the mixing room to listen to “what’s going on,” live while it’s happening. Alison Scott made a bunch of new friends the day she played in Studio C. Seasoned radio vets of all stripes were swaying back and forth to the music, captivated by her alluring voice and dynamic songwriting. Please, Alison – come back someday soon. And don’t forget us when you’re a big star, which you will be.” If you’re a fan of true soul music you’ve probably been waiting for a long time; get ready for Alison Scott- like an old friend you’ve never met, you’ll recognize it the first time you hear it.
