CDBaby link for The Copperheads: COLD MISSISSIPPI
Been knocking out righteous Country-Soul music since 1998.
We provide a distinct alternative to today's Alt-Country & Americana groups because we're usually trying to put a R & B groove to our "country" songs and add country harmonies to our soul-inflected numbers.
Lyrically, we're more for Smokey Robinson than Johnny Cash. But we look for the unusual angle of romance, its entanglements, and its end.
We also have a strong penchant for Gospel numbers, usually 'black' gospel. It's got all the energy of rock 'n' roll with perhaps more depth & practical purposes.
Over the past few years, we've made the stage a better place for Shooter Jennings, Jack Ingram, Charlie Robison, Rosie Flores, the Iguanas, Chris Scruggs, Wanda Jackson, Randy Weeks, Percy Sledge, Junior Brown... even the Oak Ridge Boys & Ty Herndon.
Thanks much for reading & listening. Hope you'll take the time to check us out on LP, the net, or the clubs

The band's third effort, COLD MISSISSIPPI, is unquestionably their best. A perfect synthesis of country and soul, the songs are very well-crafted and relevant to the times, not so much politically, but emotionally. The performances are sweet, soulful, and powerful---the gospel numbers are a revelation.

This Train is Gainin is a stellar collection of pristine country blues, with gorgeous harmonies throughout. The boys are at their best when throwing soul into the countrypolitan mix, like on the standouts Last Sad Song and My Hearts on Fire.

With too many bands steeped in alt-countrys rowdy clichés (i.e. bad grammar and drinking), its refreshing to hear the soulful, sophisticated songs of the Copperheads.

The Copperheads debut LP, Country & Blues Revue, recalls artists like Charlie Rich, current Nick Lowe, Dan Penn & Spooner Oldham, and The Band. The blending of soul and country is making a comebackThe Copperheads are doing it as well as anyone out there.
