My gift of entertaining began in 1972 at the age of seven. I grew up in the church singing on Choirs, and being trained up in the way I should live for the Lord. It was more a routine than a relationship. In the projects of the South Bronx, I began singing and dancing in front of my aunts, uncles, neighbors, cousins and friends. I can remember as if it were just yesterday. Thinking and believing I woulkd be the next Micheal Jackson or James Brown. From those living room routine and talent show prizes, birthed an expectation of someday being a positive
influence in the music industry. After attending private,Catholic, military, and moslem schools, I finally landed in the public school system for my last two years of high school in the Bronx. There the gift was stirred up and perfected even further. I was lead singer for the Jazz band, not knowing then that god was up to something in my life. He was preparing me daily to furfill the purpose predestined for me yet still to come to pass. I was at a growing stage in the Lord, to were I knew there was a God, and felt Blessed no matter what I did right or wrong. Thank you Lord for grace and mercy.
From the band concerts to the choir rehearsals came another music influnce. It was rap music. It had just hit the seen. I had been in the rap game from the very start of it. I had to do it. I thought I would be representing rap in the music industry. The groups I rapped with did dozens of shows all over the City. We performed in front of everybody who we thought was somebody. Just waiting for that record deal to come. This lasted all through college as well, every weekend performing at every party. The record deal never came to pass but the gift to produce music did. I was on a creative edge before there were any record deals or rap labels. I was a pioneer knowing I was involved with something this world didnt except. From a beginner piano course to electronic keyboards and home studios. I made all kinds of beats and bass lines. It made me feel special something I could call my own. While rap blow up right in my face, I kept on doing my own musical thing. It made me who I was and who I am now. I always felt ahead of the game when I made music that no one would hear but me. I always kept it unique, no matter what style
of music. I was making music everyday, I wasnt even listen to radio, just my material, that others sang on and material I played and sang or rapped on.
During the last year of college the desire for wanting to be a rapper was played. God was doing a new work in me. He had a plan for my life, and nothing was going to take me off course. Every door was cloed that I thiught was an oppurtunity to break into the music industry. He was
turning me toward Him and his music. Crucifing my flesh and showing me I had to change my ways in order to be used for His purpose. I was in a church envirnment that I never experienced. I could never go back to the the plain old way of church again. I sung on the choir,choral, and
played in the jazz band. Back home God lead me to a new church in Harlem were I played the saxaphone. More importantly, I found out what instrument God was going to use me with to play. And to this day that's what has happen. I would the piano for hours at a time, locked in a room 5x8, I realized God put this gift in me. Because I knew were it came from and who gave it to me, I committed to give it back by allowing it to be used for His purpose only. To this day I am very cautious of how my Gift of playing is to be used. I recieved a laying on of hands with the transfer of anointing from Gospel recording artist Ben Tankard. I am influnced by Kim Clement and Dino. I will not allow anything to have this anointing come off of me. I am totally lead by the power of the Holy Spirit to play keys for the Lord.
Once leaving college in 1988, life began in a hurry. Priorities were handled in the order by which they came. While playing portable keyboards and keeping up to date with every new keyboard on the market, God revealed a vision for why He gave me this gift. It was simple. Go
and win souls. At first I recieved it thinking it was to be kept in the walls of the Church. So I thought I had to be playing in some Church. Then God revealed the souls outside the church are the ones that need to be reached. Once this was clear I asked the Lord how? There have been
many answers and still more on the way. I've learned to let God be God over my Life. I have a home studio were I produce Tunes by the hundreds. All anointed under the power of the Holy Spirit.
So here I stand in my Worship closet watching God bring to pass everything he promised. My faith has increased and my walk is closer and more solid as a result of what is being manifested in my life. He is still preparing me for everything He still has planned for my life, and I wait patiently, experinceing so much joy through the gift of music God has Blessed me with. Each day I am led by His Spirit, and stand in obedience to His Word. So YES the music you hear is produced, created and played by me. So be BLESSED by it, God's given it to me to share.
