About Me

Hi, my name is Gaby and I'm a saxophoneplayer. Born in Hannover/Germany, I spent some years in Amsterdam/NL and recently moved to France. In Germany I got my Band "Gaby Schenke's 2nd Edit" and a duo with my good friend pianoplayer Béatrice Kahl. We finished our new CD "99" (with guestmusiciens Frank Fiedler (ac.bass) and Kristof Hinz (drums, loop programming) Now we are looking for a label and looking forward to do some fine concerts. More information at my Topfriends GABY SCHENKE & BÉATRICE KAHL. In France I hooked up a new Quartet to play my compositions. I'm working in a Duo with my good friend bassplayer Anne Mahey and as well in a Duo with pianiste Sandrine Marchetti. And of course I'm doing all those things we all do: playing all kinds of music to eat and have a home... Hopefully I'll find enough time to let you hear some of my new compositions soon! Peace, Gaby******************************************************** ************ check out the song "Der goldene Reiter - 99" from my new co-production with piano player Béatrice Kahl. Sounds Like: - Love all kind of percussions... Recently Jacques Schwarz-Bart's CD "Soné Ka-La" struck me. - Improvised music. Since I moved to france I've met people like François Raulin, Michel Portal, Louis Sclavis, Bruno Chevillon,... who inspired me a lot and made me curious to search for other ways in music. - good played and produced R&B, Soul, Funk, good songs that touch your heart. - the spiritual side: you should listen to trumpeter Sean Jones' "What we have"!
