About Me

I grew up in the vinyl world. Led Zeppelin,(John Bonham) Vanilla Fudge,(Carmine Appice) Black Sabbath, (Bill Ward) and Deep Purple, (Ian Paice) were my teachers. Then I discovered Frank Zappa, and couldn't get his records off the turntable. After joining my first band and doing gigs at age 15, the guitar player pushed me to listen to a record called ‘Close to the Edge’, which I will never forget. Yes changed my outlook on music, and made me a far better musician.I played with a number of different cover bands all over the club circuit for a number of years, till finally I joined a great all original band called 'AirKraft'. AirKraft's Showcase We were constantly compared to Yes & Genesis. It was formed from the nucleus of a band called 'Nightwinds'. We played a number of very successful shows but could'nt get over the $35 a month income hurdle. In the early eighties I got my first big break when I heard the band ‘Toronto’was auditioning for a new drummer. I was successful, recorded a few albums and toured North America supporting each one. We headlined a number of Canadian tours and shared the stage with Chilliwack, Girlschool, Streetheart, The Headpins, Lydia Taylor, Kim Mitchell, Martha & the Muffins, Klattu, Harlequin, Goddo, the list goes on...In America we opened for Ted Nugent, Nazareth, Leslie West & Mountain, Rossington-Collins/Lynnard Skynnard, The Joe Perry Project, Journey, Billy Squire, Robert Palmer, Johnny Van Zant to name a few. After great fun & success I moved on to record and tour with ‘Coney Hatch’, a much heavier band. The 'Hatch' did tours opening for Accept, Krokus, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, (memory is going here), also with great fun & success. My next move put me behind the kit for ‘Lee Aaron’ and a series of European tours. Lee was always a 'Headliner' in Europe and shared the stage with Warlock, Talon, and played a number of Festivals with many different 'heavy' bands. Immediately following Lee, I was lucky enough to be flown to England to audition for MSG, McAuley Schenker Group. It was great to tread where Simon Phillips and Cozy Powell created amazing drum parts, and of course play with Robin & Michael, but the project didn't materialize, at least, not with me.Since then, 1986, I did one Canadian tour with The Good Brothers, and I have played with, jammed, and recorded with a number of different people and bands, one of which was 'Cindy & The Slammers', a Q107 homegrown finalist with Cindy Matthews, owner of the 'Cameron House' in Toronto. Throw in years of teaching drums, and I have now, after much discussion, decided to team up with Holly Woods (‘Toronto’), put together an ‘all star’ band and give the fans some dates across Canada. If you are interested in hearing, seeing, or booking this band, let me know. You have never heard Toronto sound like this before. The band members are confirmed in the blog above, (you will be surprised) and upcoming shows will be posted very soon.....Check out my new project, .....'Where's the Nine'......You will find us in my top friends..................................................... ............................................................ ......................I play Ludwig drums and Sabian cymbals exclusively....Cheers!ModMySpace Profile Customizer.. Music:

I have a very open mind toward the style of music I like. My heart and soul breaths funk/fusion, a term that can be overused toward different styles. Let's say odd time signatures with accomplished players, that is my music of choice. There are some many talented drummers and musicians out there, myspace can be an excelent place to learn. Learning is the key to advance, and I continue to learn from everyone. Stop learning, stop advancing. Many of the 'friends' associated with this page are in my home music collection. Some I have recorded and toured with, Some have been a major influence on my early days, Some continue to inspire and help me grow as a musician.Throughout my career I have been lucky enough to meet and spend time with many of them and the rest, I just enjoy listening to. I like to sum my taste up in one word.'CONVICTION'. If you or your band play with it, you are doing it right, regardless of style you fall under.
