About Me

Politically I am left. I am a strong union activist and actively oppose the US occupation of Iraq. I oppose raging xenophobia against immigrant workers. I support fair distribution of the wealth of this nation to the workers who create it. I support safe staffing levels at our hospitals and a national single payer not for profit health care program for all. I strongly support the rights of all people to be free from racial, sexist, and homophobic discrimination. I oppose the attempts to turn America into a right wing fundamentalist theocracy. I am originally from Steubenville, Ohio a steel town on the Ohio River. A son of a union steelworker and very liberal stay at home mom. I am a veteran of 22 years in the USAF as a Signals Intelligence Analyst and was stationed around the world - Thailand, Philippines, Korea, England, Hawaii, Texas, and Nevada. Currently I work for Clark County where I represent the workers in my division as the shop steward for SEIU Local 1107 of the Change to Win Labor Federation. I was recently ousted as an elected Trustee of my local, by a campaign run by the paid executive director who wanted to load our executive board for yes people for her personal agenda. I along with many other rank and file members are fighting back to take back control of our local for the rank and file members and to remind the paid staff that the workers are the union not those hired to assist in the worker's goals. I am committed to union political work to protect the economic, political, and social rights of workers. My union work is one prime focus of my life right now as workers are losing ground to the employing class of the military/religious/industrial complex. I support worker rights at the job site, a worker's voice in the management and operation of the work place, and fair economic division of profits to workers. Workers in America need to wake up and organize to protect themselves from the corporate powers selling their jobs to the lowest bidder in the the third world where workers are even more easily controlled. Workers also need to control their unions and not allow elitist paid leaders to control the voice of the working class. I stand against the corporations like Walmart who exploit American workers with low pay unaffordable health insurance, and mandatory anti union indoctrination and use foreign slave labor to produce the products they sell. As the IWW slogan goes, The working class and employing class have nothing in common. Anti-war activism is another primary focus. In the past I was the media spokesperson for Peace Now, a Las Vegas peace organization which fell apart a couple of years ago. I also have been active with the loose knit organization, Nevada Workers Against the War. I am now active with the Las Vegas Out of Iraq Coalition anti occupation efforts in Las Vegas. I recently joined Veterans for Peace and am working towards developing a Las Vegas chapter. I oppose use the the American military in wars of aggression against sovereign nations. I oppose American military occupation of sovereign nations. I oppose military recruiting in high schools and targeting minority and working class youth for military service. Another cause I believe in is stopping nuclear weapons development especially at the Nevada Test Site. Public opposition to the Divine Strake weapons test was successful - the government will not test this new weapon (technology to be used to design a new nuclear bunker busting bomb). The people of Utah and Nevada will not have additional exposure to the radio active dust from the Nevada Test Site. The lands stolen from the Western Shoshone native people will not again be raped with a weapon against nature. I support Dennis Kucinich for president in 2008, the only peace candidate and a candidate with a workable single payer not for profit health care plan and a friend of labor. I have been married for over 21 years and have a step son who is on active duty as a registered nurse in the US Army. He has already served one tour in the war zone (Afghanistan) and fully supports my anti war activities.----BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW------NO ESCALATION, NO EXPANSION OF THE WAR--ELECT DENNIS KUCINICH AS PRESIDENT IN 2008--REPEAL TAFT-HARTLEY---STOP RECRUITING IN HIGH SCHOOLS----BUILD THE LABOR PARTY INTO A POLITICAL FORCE--REPEAL THE HOMELAND SECURITY---RESTORE HABEUS CORPUS---www.lasvegasantiwar.org Nevada Workers Against the War webpage

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Labor Activists; Anti-War Activists; Kucinich Supporters; Anti-Nuke Activists - people who want to change America and replace the war mongering, anti-worker current Bush and Republican Regime.http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/2008-seiu-interna tional-convention.html - Stop Rigging Elections for the 2008 SEIU International Convention in Puerto Rico

Heroes:

All working class people who have the will to struggle against the power structure. Old time IWW organizers: Joe Hill, Mother Jones, Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, Eugene Debbs and all dedicated union organizers. All those to stand up against the Bush regime to end the occupation and attacks on civil liberties. All who have given their lives is the struggle to secure rights for the working class. My father, who went on strike many times to gain worker power in the steel industry and who taught me to never cross a picket line or be a scab.
