Jammin Jon Kiebon Experimental Guitar Improviser!

About Me

In sea of copy cat sound a like pretentious so called music artist's Jammin Jon Kiebon stands alone. Boldly defying all classifications, genre's labels etc. Jon Kiebon has been inventing a unique musical universe since his days as founder & leader of the "Original Project Object” a New York based post punk pre alternative band formed in 1985. The "Original Project Object" Recorded 2 very rare Albums featuring several of Jon's provocatively alluring tunes such as "Phone Sex Goddess" "Moralistic Baptist Geek" "Yuppie Brigade" Bible Preaching Prophet Fool" and "Repulsive Glitter Guru's" These songs provided topical and social commentary accurately reflecting the climate of mid 80's America while also managing to be funny. Ahead of the curve on the alternative grunge take over of the late 80's the “Original Project Object “also pre dated the Jam Band movement with long experimental improvised instrumental sections based around Jammin Jon's daring sonic guitar mutations. So what happened to the "Original Project Object " you must be asking & where are they now ? Are They conneceted To The Fantastic EF-ZEE cover band of the same name ? Check back to this My Space soon for the answers to these and other important questions as well as the rest of the Jon Kiebon music bio. The "Original Project Object" flourished from 1985-1989.The original band members were: Jon Kiebon ( he was not Jammin Jon yet) Lead guitar,Vocals & composer. Steven (The Bayview Schmoo ) Mandracchia whom by the way is the Schmoo in the Song "Bozo Schmoygenton" Lead Vocals & some Guitar when he didn't have egzemia. Boris (CreamCheese Thighs) Ballard -Bass Guitar. Whose Asshole Wife made him quit the band. John (Transit worker) Cino - Drums who was in his early 50's then & quit the day before our biggest gig. So this should answer the question about the original "Project O's Bizzare relationship to the 2nd & far more prominent Project O. The 2 were not connected! We had broken up in 89 & maybe used the name a few times for some early 90's comeback tries. I first became aware of the existence of some other Project Object in early 1994 shortly after the untimely passing of the great irreverent Maestro himself. I had set up a web site still referencing the P.O. name & started to get e-mails praising our killer preformances. To my dismay I was baffled. So upon further research I found out about this spiffy little Zappa cover combo from New Jersey. I went down to see them play for the first time at The Lions Den in the village. This way before Ike W. or any FZ alumni knew of them I enjoyed the show & got to meet the leader & founder Andre C. He turned out to be a real nice guy & we exchanged many zappa stoires. I even got to sit in with the band at the same venue a year or so later. We discovered we had a mutual friend The one & only Jerry (Jay) Cuccurullo Drummer supreme & brother of the Notorious Warren Cuccurullo of Zappa/Missing Persons/ Duran Duran fame. Jay & I had grown up together in Canarsie Brooklyn and he is the person that introduced me to Frank Zappa music & onThanksgiving 1979 THE MAN (Frank) himself. As a matter of fact Jerry C. was the Drummer for my "Original Project Object in 1987-88. He plays all the drums and some incredilbe electronic percussion over dubs on our 4 song EP from 1988. It is the best recordings of the band that we have. Anyway Andre & the guys were always some what nervous about the fact that I had used the name first & kept asking me if I was going to sue them. They even agreed & did change the name for a couple of gigs To "The FZ Project" I think. I told then I really didn't mind since my band had broken up a few years before but I did have a title song "Project Object" that I hoped to release one day. That song is really very powerful and JC"S great Drum playing drives the powerful sad but true social & political comments it makes about life in the late 1980's. The lyric's to the song were so profound it prompted to Warren Cuccurullo to proclaim me "The Best Lyricist for my money since Zappa". When it became apparent My song or Band would not be heard I gave Andre my full blessings to use the name. Anyway it's Frank's term isin't it I asked Andre. I guess that was a little bit of hindsight on my part in light of all the hassle's they have had to face for using that name. Matter of fact on that topic of the usage of The term Project Object (if you want to know what it means go to Zappa.com) here is a little known fact. I JAMMIN JON KIEBON attended a fund raiser at the Palladiumn on 14th street in NYC in 1987. It was a Disco then a shame as it was the same place of so many legendary FZ halloween shows ,most notably Baby Snakes. Any way at this fund raiser it was some sort of anti PMRC anti Televangalist type thing Mr. Frank Zappa was the guest of honor. That was my reason for attending along with my original Bass Player one Boris (Creamcheese Thighs) Ballard. We wanted to Meet Frank ( I had meet him about 8 times already & he remembered me & give him a little casette tape of our rockin teenage combo "Project Object". We were succeseful in this mission & WhenI whipped it on Mr.Zappa I asked him if it was cool to use the name. "SURE NO PROBLEM"he said as he shoved the tape into the pocket of his mystery robe (his suit coat.) I hope he never played it cause I don't think it was so great. I guess this little known story as unprovable as it is (Cream Cheese Thighs is the only witness) won't help Andre & the boys much but it should be known. Coming next Jon Kiebon boldly tries to keep playing music after Frank Zappa leaves for his final tour. 1994-2001 "The present day what ever the hell I am refuses to go away." a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"Jam Man Jam (Live)
