About Me

Paperboy was released in 1984 as a coin operated arcade game by Atari.
As the Paperboy, you, the player, must deliver "The Daily Sun" newspaper to all of your subscribers in Centreville. The Player starts with some subscribers and a sack of papers. If he continues to consistently deliver the papers to the customers, they will continue to subscribe.
The paperboy begins his route at the start of the street (bottom of the screen) and progresses towards the end. The player can control the paperboy's speed: faster delivery earns a higher score. But the paperboy is in constant movement and cannot stop moving forward until the level (day of the week) has ended.
Pushing the handlebars forward accelerates. Pulling back results in a radical skid
Paperboy is awarded points for hitting nuisances with papers and vandalizing the homes of the non-subscribers. This in turn gives the non-subscribers incentive to subscribe and have Paperboy deliver their "Daily Sun" to them as new subscribers.
Game play proceeds by days of the week, Monday thru Sunday. To keep the game going, the player must ride over bundles of papers to restock supply.
SCORING
Delivery: 100 or 240
Breakage: 100-250
Jumps: 200
A band of housewives, break dancers, lawn jockeys, and more unite to stop the paperboy, especially if he failed to deliver to them. As he pedals down the sidewalk at top speed, they set their lawnmowers on auto-pilot, unleash their dogs, and even find more ways to keep him from delivering the papers. Don't be surprised if Paperboy finds himself dodging obstacles such as traffic, tires, motorcycles, tricycles, boomboxes, storm drains, curbs, bees, fire hydrants, skateboarders, kids playing with radio controlled toys, tornadoes, oversized house cats, and even the Grim Reaper himself, hiding behind shrubs.

My Interests

There was a bug in the game that sometimes permitted the user to go past the end of the obstacle course and cause weird things to happen in the next day of delivering papers.

Operator Options:Operators may select Easy Street(Easy),Middle Road (Medium), or Hard Way (Hard) difficulty levels; 3,4,5, or 6 player lives, and a bonus every 15,000, 30,000, or 40,000 points or no bonus.

A unique bonus round is award at the end of each day. The Player rides throught the "Paperboy Training Grounds. A BMX-style course where a wide variety of obstacles and targets are presented to test player skills.

In 1986 Paperboy was awarded "Game of the Year" by the British Software Industry.

Each day begins by showing an overview of the street indicating subscribers and non-subscribers.

I'd like to meet:

Use the "throw" button to deliver papers to houses on the subscription route (most points awarded for hitting the mailbox

A "Perfect Delivery Bonus" is also awarded if all customers receive papers. Player receives twice the score for each house delivered. Non-delivery or breakage to customers's house loses that customer. The game is over if all customers are lost.
