Boubacar "Bouba" Diabate is a Griot storyteller and musician from Bamako, MALI in West Africa. His first experience with playing music was with the Djembe and Djoun-Djoun percussion instruments of his country. Bouba began playing drums at the age of 4 in his native Mali and though he has gone on to be known for singing and playing guitar with his own group SAMBA LOLO, he can still be found playing his first instruments regularly at African Dance classes and workshops all around greater Boston and throughout New England. ____________________________________________________________

Bouba is now teaching his own one-on-one African Drumming Classes by appointment in Boston and select areas in New England and is planning a series of Group Drumming Workshops in 2007 and together with his students, will create performances for students to show their progress in live music and theatre venues throughout New England. ____________________________________________________________

Included in all classes and workshops will be a comprehensive introduction and overview of the history and culture of the Griots of Mali, West Africa.
