My Interests

Writing and reading fiction, writing and singing worship music, developing a "Destiny Center" for Kingdom building in the inner city for youth.

I'd like to meet:

Other authors, musicians, and Kingdom minded people. A little bit about me... I love to do anything that allows me to express myself creatively. I love writing fiction and finally got someone to pay me for doing so. I like to deal with real life issues affecting people. My characters are real, so they do stuff that real life people do. Check out my website and read the first chapter of My Soul Cries Out at www.sherrilewis.comI also love to write music and to sing. Hopefully me and my favorite producer will be getting together soon to get some stuff recorded. My greatest passion is to express the reality of the Kingdom of God through the arts including music, dance, film and television, and literature; and through sound biblical teaching. My ministry thrusts include the message of the Kingdom, intimacy with God, intercessory prayer, understanding prophetic ministry, ministering emotional healing, and birthing individuals into their destiny.By day, I work as a physician at a Georgia women's prison. Can't wait to write and share stories from my experience there.

Music:

I love contemporary gospel, particularly worship music, jazz and neo soul. My favorites are Israel Houghton, Micah Stampley, Fred Hammond, Joann Rosario, Darlene McCoy on the gospel side. My new favorites are Christopher Lewis and Leon Timbo. You gotta check them out! Neo Soul gospel is the best! I love Jill Scott, India.Arie, George Duke, Frank McComb, Eric Roberson, Lizz Wright, Jonathan Butler. Also living in the ATL, there are a host of independent artists I've grown to love - Ericka Smith, Phillipia, Rhonda Thomas, Mark Nelson, Al Smith, Kyle Williams.

Movies:

Sister Act II - seen it a million times. Love and Basketball, Blood Diamonds, The Matrix, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Last Samurai, Braveheart, The Kingdom of Heaven and anything else that illustrates the reality of spiritual warfare.

Television:

I really don't watch much TV at all. If I do, Law and Order - and my new favorite, The Closer

Books:

About my debut novel, My Soul Cries Out.......Monica Harris-Day’s perfect world begins a downward spiral the afternoon she comes home to find her husband in bed…with another man. After confronting Kevin, her husband of two years, Monica discovers he’s had a lifelong struggle with homosexuality that began at the age of ten after he was molested by a deacon in the church. For years, Kevin has sought deliverance, crying out to God to make him straight. He explains his deceit by saying that he thought he had truly been delivered, but was afraid to share his past with Monica for fear she wouldn’t marry him. Kevin begs Monica’s forgiveness and wants to save their marriage. He is convinced that God has indeed delivered him from the spirit of homosexuality and that the one time mistake was just his past coming back to haunt him. Their pastor offers them marital counseling, but Monica suspects he’s really concerned about maintaining his mega-church – it's grown to 10,000 members since Kevin became the minister of music. When the pastor swears them to secrecy and urges Monica to stay in the marriage, she thinks Bishop Walker isn’t willing to risk the potential scandal and church split that would be caused if the truth is leaked to the congregation. My Soul Cries Out is a compassionate look at the issue of Christians struggling with homosexuality and the redemptive power of God to bring deliverance.Released July 2007 from Urban Christian www.urbanchristianonline.net
