Dr. Horner [IJL]

I'M TOO PERFECT TO LIVE LIKE A PERSON!!!

About Me

Push play below to hear some of my music.

I write concert music (that means symphonies, operas, etcetera). For real. Orchestras play it. It's phuqqing awesome.

I am what some ppl would call an electric guitar virtuoso or "guitar god" if you will. I'm working on establishing an extensible standard notation and graded method system for the instrument.

I work as a Linux systems administrator mostly for medical imaging and financial enterprises.

I used to work as a recording engineer. I prefer to record "concert" or "classical" music but I record my insanely loud music and I had the honor of recording Kayo Dot .

I'm writing a music theory book.

I've studied and worked with some really amazing people including John Bavicchi, Michael Hersch , Libby Larsen , Joe Stump , Christopher Theofanidis , Chen Yi, Rimli Sengupta, Yakov Gubanov, Paul Matthews, Jeff Dorenfeld, Anna Celenza, Mark Shilansky, James Russell Smith, Ben Newhouse and Kevin Kaska.

I have a bunch of degrees that don't really mean anything. What matters is that I know how to do things and I actually get them done.

Berklee is pretty much my favorite place in the world.

My Interests

opera, violin, microtonality, tuning theory, tension and release, dodecaphony, spectra, money, audio engineering, recording, mixing, editing, mastering, live sound, musical perception, heavy metal, electronic composition, non-pitch centric music, orchestration, stochastic composition, pitch organization, metric organization, ametricity, amplification, extended performance techniques, social implications of music, computational theory (finite and infinite automata, nondeterminism, time complexity, space complexity, decidability, np-complete), signal processing, operating systems, security, compression, distributed computing, anonymous networks, steganography, encryption, quantum computing, nanotech, machine learning, communications and storage systems, quantum mechanics, non-logical systems, electro-magnetism/electrical engineering, astronomy, classical physics, probability theory, genetic engineering, alcohol, food, group psychology, memory retention, law, crime, morality, immortality, class disparity, self-reflexive systems, living beyond one's means, discontinuity, hair, chemical dependencies, governance systems, beauty, vanity, Russia, military history, combat, weaponry, social life, sed, awk, perl, C, compilers, low latency systems, investment banking, market psychology, statistical analysis (aka charting), smalltalk, small talk

I'd like to meet:

People who are fun.

People who want to fund my projects.

Wolfgang Rihm (met him 3/11/2005), Oliver Knussen, Pierre Boulez, Rodion Shchedrin, Gyorgy Ligeti (deceased), Krzysztof Penderecki, Tomiko Kojiba, Einojuhani Rautavaara

I've actually met and probably used to hang out regularly with most of the people on my friends list. I'm in no way averse to meeting people on1ine, but I'd rather use this thing to goof off with my friends than read bulletins from people I don't know.
