Helen Walford

An acoustic singer/songwriter from America

About Me

A singer/songwriter from East Tennessee, currently residing in Macclesfield. I am influenced by many different types of music from Tom Waits to Dolly Parton and a little of everything inbetween. The sound is a blend of country/bluegrass, mixed with some jazz, blues, and even a little gospel thrown in for some southern-fried flavor. West coast born, my family moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1988. After a few years of defiance, I finally gave in to the local music of Appalachia, always staying true to the rock that lived inside me. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to be involved with a variety of musical projects. The first was as a bassist/vocalist at the wisened old age of 15. That solidified my desire to pursue music, if not as a career, at least as an endlessly entertaining hobby rife with some of the stangest, most talented, and wonderful characters and experiences. I spent a few years in the Knoxville, TN music scene performing both as a solo act and as the guitar/vocal part of a three piece band inappropriately called "Sunday School". There was certainly nothing remotely reverent about me at that juncture of my life. After that, I took some time off to be a devoted wife and mother, and since moving to the north of England, I've decided it's time to get back into it and see what is out there. With my newfound confidence that only comes from creating another life, I am excited to meet new people and share the music that dwells within with anyone who cares to listen.
