About Me

Introducing myself...
My name is Alexander, my friends call me Äxl (as in Axl Rose) & you can do so too. I was born in Teterow, East-Germany, I grew up & still live in East-Berlin . I am a passionated guy -- once something has gotten ahold of my heart & soul I won't let it go so easily. Love, devotion & honesty. Freaking freely & peacefully. I'm hanging on to the trip I'm on...
I like music most of all...
I saw my first live concert at the age of 12: Bob Dylan with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers at Treptower Park, East-Berlin. Two years later I bought my very first record: The Rolling Stones' 1966 LP " Got live if you want it ". The very moment the needle touched the vinyl changed my life. I still collect records. I maintain a large live-music collection . I write about music. Among my major inspirations are the writings of Jens Balzer & Jukeboxgraduate.com. I travel a lot to see the concerts of bands. And while I do not play music myself my engagement in music is multi-faceted:
The Magnificent Brotherhood
I am a friend, companion & manager of The Magnificent Brotherhood of Eternal Love & The Happiness's Close Companions , Berlin's hottest Sixties Psychedelic Garage Band! You can book the band for a Dance Concert by contacting me & of course you can always meet me at one of the band's many concerts. It is my commitment to take the band further up the road, to support & accompany them & to hopefully contribute to paving their their way to well deserved cult-fame! You can read about my adventures with the Magnificent Brothers in anther blog I keep: One Companions diary about the continued adventures of The Magnficent Brotherhood .
In September 2006 I organised & managed the Magnificent Music Showcase, featuring three great bands: Cherry Overdrive (DK), La Ira De Dios (Peru) & The Magnificent Brotherhood of Eternal Love & The Happiness's Close Companions (GER). The event took place at Berlin's Roadrunner's Paradise Club & did please an enthusiastic audience. I am itching to organise more cool concerts in the not so far future.
Motorpsycho
I am the webmaster of MotorpsychoNews , a successful news-blog about the Norwegian band Motorpsycho. MotorpsychoNews is currently the only up to date resource about all things Motorpsycho on the web ! I edited, compiled & wrote the Motorpsycho 2006 Concert Chronology . It is my ambition to turn MotorpsychoNews into a unique homepage dedicated (but not limited) to the live history of the band, including an all-encompassing guide to live recordings .
In 2001 I founded Motortrades , the one & only Motorpsycho trading community . The list has now more than 100 members & plays a pivotal role in recording & spreading the band's live-music for free among the fans as well as preserving historic Motorpsycho live recordings . While the focus of my dedication to Motorpsycho has shifted towards MotorpsychoNews I still moderate & administer Motortrades .
It is my very personal & intimate dream to qualify as Motorpsycho's publicist & archivist -- one far day...
Education
In 2006 I am about to finish my master thesis at the university where I am enrolled for the majors Geography & History. I do scientific research about Berlin's music industry . I did an internship in Berlin's network of independent record labels, the Label Commission , as well as an internship in a local promotion agency . Currently I am conducting interviews with independent record labels in Berlin.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet people who want to share my passion & engagement for any of the projects mentioned above & who can help me to dig even further into those fields of music. I'd like to meet clubs, bookers, concert organisers who want to book The Magnificent Brotherhood for a hot & wild Dance Concert, of course a record label who wants to release their music & last but not least true companions near & afar! I am looking for Psychonauts , who want to contribute to MotorpsychoNews with guest features, concert-reviews, historic artefacts or just general inspiration. I am desperately looking for a Psychnaut who wants to be the webmaster of the future MotorpsychoNews homepage & who is dedicated enough to hang on to the trip with me! I am also looking for fanzines, publications, online-mags, blogs, newspapers I can contribute to with articles, essays, reviews, basically anything! And I am looking for Berlin-based record labels I can interview for my master thesis as well as other reseachers who are engaged with the same topic ("Creative Milieux in Berlin's music industry").
