A native Ohioan, Jim Van Bebber began making regular 8 mm films at age 11. In 1983 he received a scholarship from the Motion Picture Program at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. In 1986 Jim, along with Mike King and Marcello Games, incorporated themselves as Asmodeus Productions. They produced a short documentary, “Doper”, a feature length drama, “Shattered”, and Van Bebber’s street gang feature, “Deadbeat at Dawn”. In late 1988 work began on an epic telling of the Manson mythos, “The Manson Family”. Until its completion in 2003, Jim stayed busy directing shorts, “My Sweet Satan”, “The Last Days of John Martin”, and music videos, “Skinny Puppy”, “Pantera”, “Damien Storm”, “Superjoint Ritual”, and “Necrophagia”. 2004 saw the 22-city art house theatrical release of “The Manson Family". A successful DVD release from Dark Sky films followed in 2005. Jim has completed two scripts, “The Historymakers”, a biker action film, and “The Last Days of John Martin”, a serious horror film about serial murder. In 2006 Jim and his cinematographer Mike King traveled with the southern supergroup “Down” for their 28-day European tour. He is preparing the editing of this upcoming rockumentary.
