About Me

It's impossible to tell where I'm from based on my accent, but, in no particular order, I've lived in the following states: Texas, North Carolina, New Mexico, Colorado, & Tennessee. I now live in Nashville and love it!

I'm a member of Randy Kohrs' band as the fiddle player and harmony singer, and now I currently also work full time doing the PR and radio marketing for the band and Randy's studio, Slack Key Studio under his Left of Center Records. I've also co-written with him four songs on his latest CD, Old Photograph.

Musically, before all of this new stuff, I've played in several bands of all genres, done a little session work, won some fiddle contests (TX Jr. State Championships in '95, Indiana State Champ. in '05, and so on...), played in some theaters, taught private music lessons, and I still sit in with other bands when I can.

We recently released a video for the next single with Randy Kohrs, "Who's Goin' With Me," written by Shannon Lawson and Del Gray, and is playing on CMT Pure (#1 for 2 weeks!!!!)and GAC and their respective websites!!! The video shoot was a lot of fun and a lot of work, as I was also production manager. Jarboe of Bell-Jarboe Films directed it and did an absolutely awesome job! I've since gone on to co-produce another video with this director for award-winning Jim Lauderdale.

Aside from our own stuff, I was also privileged to sing harmony on a song on the Grammy-winning Jim Lauderdale's recent CD, The Bluegrass Diaries, recorded at Slack Key Studio and Produced, Engineered, and Mixed by Randy, too. It just won a GRAMMY!!!! My life pretty much revolves around work, which, luckily, I truly enjoy since it also involves so many people I love!

My Interests

I endorse Fishman Electronics and use the new Fishman pick-up on my fiddle. Just send me a message for more information.

Check out the first Randy Kohrs music video...yes, that's me!

Music:

Some of my favorite fiddlers are Stuart Duncan, Tim Crouch, Aubrey Haynie, Mark O'Connor, Kenny Baker, the late, greats - Stefane Grapelli, Randy Howard...Even attempting this is running the risk of leaving someone important out, so I'll stop there and just admit that I have.
Some artists I love are AKUS, Govt. Mule/Warren Haynes, all the Bluegrass Album Band recordings, Emmylou Harris, Patsy Cline, Jimi Hendrix, James Taylor, the Black Crowes, Shawn Mullins, Ian Moore, Martina McBride, Reba McIntyre, New Grass Revival, the Sam Bush Band, Randy Kohrs (who is teaching me all about true classic country and everything dobro) and the random list goes on...

Television:

No cable, just a Blockbuster plan. On a good, clear night, we pick up about 5 stations.

Books:

I'm a bookworm, or at least I used to be when I had that kind of time. Anything by Ann Coulter I love. I'm a fan of the classics - Jane Austen, Mark Twain, C.S. Lewis... The "Left Behind" series was great, but I never did read the last one- too obvious!

Heroes:

My Grandmother, Lorraine Brown, and my new Step-mother, Beverly Brown, because of the bravery they showed during the summer of '07 when they both were diagnosed with cancer. They're now both cancer survivors!!!
