The name doesn't say it all. But, it gives you a really good idea.
Kenneth Wright moved to Nashville, TN, almost twelve years ago, to sing and write songs like so many others before him. "Making it" wasn't as important as making a difference on the musical landscape of Music City. The South Carolina native approached his career the only way he knew how to approach anything...by going to work.
Playing over 200 dates a year at every biker bar, honky tonk, and tavern will either make you better or make you want to go home...and Kenneth Wright isn't going anywhere! In a town as musically diverse as Nashville, Kenneth has found his niche on the blues scene. Although, he isn't soley a blues artist. " If I had to limit myself to one genre, I would be selling myself and the people who come to see me short," according to the singer who list Tony Joe White, Brooke Benton, and Jimmy Reed as influences.
Over the past twelve years, Wright's band has changed with a long list of players considered Hostile Witnesses. What doesn't change is the music. According to The Rage, "It's black label blues." The Scene compares him to Delbert McClinton. If you haven't caught Kenneth and The Hostile Witnesses there are plenty of opportunities. He plays regularly in Nashville at B.B. Kings and Bailey's on Broadway. Catch him monthly at Willie's Wet Spot in Smyrna , Bluesboro in Murfreesboro, and occassionally at Dilligaf's in Old Hickory. Check him out and be ready for a great time.
