About Me

Providing the lastest environmental and social justice news, links and blogs. We have the knowledge and the technology to bring about a better, sustainable, world - all we need is the will to do so!
"Climate change is not simply an environmental problem, but a threat to international peace, security and development. It has far-reaching implications for the global economy and our prosperity." - Dept. Trade and Industry 2007
Check out our five point plan for smashing carbon emissions:::
1. Use renewable energy
26% of global co2 emissions are caused by electricity and heat generation. Switching to a renewable energy supplier such as ecotricity is the biggest single step anyone can take to slashing their carbon footprint...and for no extra cost!
2. Say no to aviation
Air travel is the fastest growing contributer to climate change. One return trip from UK to Australia produces the same amount of co2 as you could save by living in a completely carbon neutral house for 7 YEARS!! Check out planestupid , airportwatch , seat61 . UK: sign the petition to stop aiport exapansion here
3. Eat a healthy low meat diet (or go veggie! )
One of the main drivers for deforestation is to provide land to feed cows. A dairy cow produces the equivalent amount of greenhouse gas emissions as an average family car! A low meat diet is better for you, animals and the planet! Find a local box scheme near you.
4. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Check out freecycle , and recycling near you . When buying new choose ethical, energy efficient products - try econatural , wow-wow , nigels ecostore , and remarkable .
5. Enjoy freedom from the car
32% of co2 emissions in the UK are caused by transport. Cars kill roughly 1.2million people a year (the same as malaria and tubercolosis) and seriously injure a further 50million. Check out sustrans , living streets , carfree , and transport2000 .
And don't forget to...
A. Keep
sharing and learning
B. Write to your MP or representative and ask for change.
C. Ask what your workplace is doing to promote sustainability and push for change.
D. Join a national or local group. Volunteer!
