The Foodies Books

About Me

The Foodies Books are set in a vegetable garden and all the characters are British fruits and vegetables. Each book takes place in a different month of the year, and the characters, weather and storylines reflect the changing seasons. Each book includes some factual information about the star of the book, investigated by primary school children – how it grows, how to eat it and more. Plus each book includes a child friendly seasonal recipe for families to cook together, provided by respected restaurants, delicatessens and producers. My Interests

WANT TO ADD THE FOODIES BOOKS AS A FRIEND? Please note this is a book project aimed at families with young children, and those who work with them. So I have to be a little circumspect about accepting requests.I am unable to accept requests from people whose profiles have conspicuous bad language or sexual references. I realise some political or ethical organisations may have contextual swearing or graphic images intended for a political point, but I will have to assess these individually.Because the project encourages children and their carers to eat fresh, locally grown foods from a wide range of food groups, I cannot link to any organisation which promotes dieting of any kind other than through sensible eating and exercise. Any programme which encourages radical calorie restriction, meal replacements or cutting out food groups may have merit for educated adults but we cannot be seen to promote them to young children who need a varied diet and chance to develop their own views on food.I therefore have to check every request before agreeing. In many requests the reason for your interest in The Foodies Books may be obvious in your profile (for example from organisations which promote conscious comsuming, environmental causes etc, or from individuals who love gardening or cooking) but if it will not be obvious to me why you are interested in us please could you spare a second to write a quick message alongside your request, to save confusion. Thank you.
