ok lets help these children out please
..Hi Y'all,
Went to Ethiopia to do AIDS work.
So: in a nutshell: Ethiopia is amazing and sad and
wonderful. I truly believe that it's the cradle of
civilization. Did good work, made wonderful friends
(y'all know what a shy little thang I am). These
friends turned me on to Ethipian Idol! Yup, that's
exactly what it is....
There is an article in the Outreach Magazine.
http://www.sfaf.org/outreach/2007_3/ethiopia.htmlI'm not one of the "Here's the pics and EVERY detail
of my trip!!!" kind of guy.
That being said, I met an amazing woman and her kids
and told her I would try to help.
Have included pics.
Sometimes we watch the news or look around at the
world and are not always so glad to be a human.
Meeting this remarkable, lovely young woman made me
deeply proud to be of the same species.
She has adopted 15 kids with AIDS in Ethiopia . She
is Ethiopian but graduated from Emory U. in Atlanta
here. This is what she has chosen to do with her life.
She can’t even get basics there. The average life
expectancy HIV+ kids in Africa is approx. two years.
These kids range from 4-16 and she has gotten them all
on HIV meds. All but two are 4-9 years old. She needs
and deserves our help.
Any donations would be appreciated. Will be doing a
benefit for them during the summer. Have already sent
one package over and am sending more tomorrow. These
packages have things that are not available in
Ethiopia. *You might notice that in the picture with
her and the kids the medicine cabinets are empty.
That's what the packages are. Money goes a long way
there so am sending her checks for the rest. Even 5-10
bux will add up. You can make them out to 'abezash
tamerat'.
Here is the address:
Artsits for charity
childrens home project
abezash tamerat
2393 conyers ga
30094
Times could be better for a lot of folks these days so
if you can't help in that way you can also take a sec
to be grateful that we're on the same planet as
abezash. Maybe you'll even get to see Ethiopian Idol!!
It was bloody amazing.
Thanks as always.
Love ya,Pauli----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------Ask yourself, "What are you doing to put an end to HIV/AIDS?
Well, we have the answer-Support AIDS Lifecycle 6 & Team Chain Gang!
Team Chain Gang is joining over 2,000 individuals striving to make a difference. We will be cycling 545 from June 3-9, 2007 through California from San Francisco to Los Angeles. AIDS Lifecycle is the official cycling event of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.
What is AIDS Lifecycle all about?... is about HIV/AIDS and raising money to help the beneficiaries continue to provide the critical services and education needed to meet the growing needs of our community.??... increases awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS among participants, their donors and the general public.... addresses the widespread misperception that HIV and AIDS are no longer a problem -- in fact more people are living with HIV & AIDS today than ever before, which means a much greater need for services.... provides a reminder that the rate of HIV infection is increasing, particularly in communities of color and in individuals under the age of 25. In California alone there are more than 55,000 people living with AIDS, and another 125,000 living with HIV, many unaware of their infection.
And it…... requires each cyclist to raise a minimum of $2,500!This is where you come in. We need your support. Any amount is a dollar more than before. Many companies will also match your donation. So, put out a collection can at work, in your store, ask your friends, your colleagues. As you plan your charitable donations, put AIDS Lifecycle on the list. This is a cause that will show the immediate result of your donation. Keeping these vital services running and providing real education about the effects and prevention of HIV/AIDS will some day mean a world without this terrible epidemic.
In early 2007, we will announce our calendar of official fundraising event. In the works right now are house parties, beer busts, music concerts, and maybe even a bake sale!If you would like to host a party for our team, please contact us at
[email protected] would love your support and company on our road to meet our goal.Thank you in advance for taking action. The next time you are faced with the statistics or conversation about HIV/AIDS, be proud to know that YOU are doing something to stop it!With all of our love and thanks,Team Chain Gang
