Bust! Bust!

About Me

Cal Slam is one of the last bastions of creative expression on the UC Berkeley campus. We host a poetry slam at the Gelateria Naia (on lower Sproul), and anyone can compete.

For the uninitiated, a poetry slam is an oral poetry competition in which poets bring their original work to the mic, and are scored on their writing and performance by judges (picked randomly from the audience) on a scale of 1-10. In general, poetry slams are loud, high-energy, and brashly honest--it ain't your parents' poetry reading.

My Interests

microphones, spoken word, stage presence, eloquence, similes, wild and poem-hungry audience members, love, angst, fury, sarcasm, passion, and, most of all, poetry.

Seriously, anyone who has the ovaries/balls to get up on a mic and bust is a hero for at least those 3 minutes.
