About Me

Chanell J. Wilson has been performing since she was three years old and writing songs and poetry since she was thirteen. She toured with DC Dance Center for 10 years studying in ballet, jazz and tap dance. While in attendance at San Francisco State University in 2002; she performed in a student showcase of “For Colored Girls Who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf”. She also trained for five years in a Ministerial Training Program where she spoke at various engagements to crowds ranging over 300+ people. Chanell has also established herself as a singer/songwriter. Her music is heart-felt, warm, and thought provoking having the strength and power to inspire many. It is also eclectic, pulling from her wide range and taste of various musical genres such as soul, gospel, funk, punk rock, and hip hop. She has a Certificate in Recording Arts from Diablo Valley College’s Music Industry Studies Program where she started (with her class) KDVC.org (DVC’s Internet Radio Station) and Duck Pond Records (DVC Record Label). Chanell is both writing and recording songs to her anticipated debut album, entitled ‘Songs from My Soul’ which is slated for an independent release, on Hands Up Records a label started by her mentor Stonewall “Stoneman” Towery and produced by Roy Graves. Chanell's most recent accomplishment is her first publication of Braid Girl: the Hair Braiding Instructional E book and Braid Girl: The Hair Braiding Instructional Booklet.
