About Me

Myspace LayoutsRicomiguel being translated lightly in spanish to mean, "Wealthy Michael", or "Michael Who Is Rich"! Not to say I am nothing more than God has said, but one thing I know for sure, God has gifted me with both natural and spiritual gifts, and He has brought me to a wealthy place in Him, and through Him! I Thank the Lord for His choosing, and I don't take it for granted!
Christian MySpace GraphicsRicomiguel Colon was born as Michael Sein-Colon to the union of the Late Elder Michael Miguel Sein-Colon, and Overseer Carmelita D. Nichols PH.D.; the first of 5 children. Going up, he was surrounded by music at his late maternal Grandfather's church, Bibleway's Temple of Prayer in Cleveland, Ohio. By the age of 4, he started performing with his sisters, as the "Heirs of Salvation", under the direction of their father, where they sang at various church, family and community functions. By the age of 9, Ricomiguel was the lead vocalist and the youth director for the Charleston's Children's Mass Choir, in South Carolina during the summer of 1981. Later becoming the second string of the drummers for the Bibleway District services, during the same time. By the early 80's he was accompanying his church family's choir, "The King's Chorus", as a musician both at church services and abroad, playing the clarinet. Later, he began to play the drums at his grandfather's church during night services and youth programs. During the 90's, in California he sang as an alto/tenor for the group "HOPE", the "C.V. Nichols Ensemble", and the "Praise Choir of Tabernacle", all under the direction of Pastor Letia Nichols; where they sang through-out California, winning several state and local awards for excellence. An instance happened where I was put into a situation where I had to learn to play the organ; by this time, I already knew how to play the drums and was the church drummer. Both my mother and grandmother prayed for my ahnds at different times that God would use them and increase the gift of playing, while also increasing gifts that He had already given, by His mercy and grace. He, then took over the Praise choir of Prayer Tabernacle, where he began to write songs, direct and play for the choir. And they began to sing his songs for services, engagements and outings. God has continued to use to him in these ministries, and increasing the gifts that were placed upon him.* I did not call myself, for I would not have known how, nor would I have known how to prepare myself. God has given me a unique ministry, and one thing I do know is this, He Called Me. I am but a vessel and I am just pleased to be used of God. He has blessed me with many spiritual and natural gifts, but they all are to bring praise, honor and glory to the One and Only God, Jesus Christ my Lord! I thank you all for your support, for those who constantly send me messages of encouragement and love. God Bless You All!

My sons, my heart, my inspiration; Lawrance Emmanuel and Andre' Michael. Daddy loves you both and you have given me hope to carry on when I thought I had no strength, you both have been the angels that carry me when I am weak in spirit; you guys smiles, your laughs, your expressions, your lives......thank You God for choosing me to nurture such jems, such jewels of which I rededicate back to You.My sons are both very talented, each in their own right. They began playing the drums at the ages of 4 and 3 years old, practicing with me at home. Within about 6 months they were ready to start playing at church services. At this present time, both of my sons are taking drum classes from the African Roots Of Jazz class in Oakland, California. They are also part of the professional performers there, doing live shows and paid gigs throughout the local and extended Bay area.

I have been blessed to share my talents in many different arena, and for that I am glad. My sisters and I have sang back up for various artist including Drene Ivy, among others. We have opened up for the likes of Freda Mitchell, Kim Burrell and The Hawkins, to name a few. In 1992, I was given the biggest opportunity of my career when I was invited to sing "Tell Me Something Good", with my Soul Momma, Ms. Chaka Khan at the Circle Star Theatre in San Carlos; Chaka fought to get me on stage with her, so I knew I was going to give it my all! Not too many know exactly how this went down. I was on the side waiting for my cue to go up on stage; Chaka had already given the OK. But when it was time for me to go up on stage, Chaka's body guards, along with the arena security, grabbed me halfway up the ramp. They stared pulling me back, I screamed, "Chaka, Chaka", she stopped singing, came around to the ramp, and yelled to the guards, "Let him go, leave him alone"! Instantly they dropped their hands and Chaka came and grabbed my hand, pulling me to the center of the stage, right next to her. I knew she didn't have to stop singing for nothing, and I really admire her even more, knowing she could have ignored the whole situation and left be on the side of the stage; but she didn't, she came and got me, grabbed my hand, then said, "Sing, Sweetie"!The crowd and Chaka where amazed when I opened my mouth, I threw caution to the wind and I went for what I knew. The crowd applauded almost instantly, as they began to stand in ovation. Chaka looked at me with a smile on her face, as if to say, "No, he didn't sing like me; if you gonna do it, you doin it right, then"! She came and hugged me tightly and told the crowd to give me a hand; then their hand applause roared thoughout the arena. She gave me the confidence to know that I could go all the way in doing "ME". Even today, she continues to support me and my talents as I put together this music for you all. She continues to send me little messages of support and encouragement, and she consistantly leaves me on her Top Friends List, on her Myspace.com page. My Soulmomma, you are appreciated.I've had the pleasure of working with someone else I grew up admiring the talents of and that person is the Artist formally known as Vanity, Evangelist Denise Matthews. I was blessed to have musically accompanied her during one of our Youth Services. She is a beautiful spirit and anointed woman of God. I am glad, and I thank God that I was able to work with this woman of God, she indeed in genuine, caring and very sweet.I also had the pleasure of directing several groups and choirs. God has blessed me to influence those which He has ordained. I have about 25 completed songs in my registry, and I have 3 completed musical plays to my credit as well.Previous Positions Held: *Youth President of Prayer Tabernecle, Overseer C.V. Stormer, Oakland, Ca. *Western Region Youth President, W.A.R. Bishop Nelson Jones *Ministerial Advisor, Interdemoninational Outreach Ministries Crusade, Evg. Cornell Wheeler *Choir Director & Chef Musician, Prayer Tabernacle Church, Pastor C.D. Nichols PH.D. *Pastor, Prayer Temple Apostolic, Cleveland, OhioThis is an album of "going onward"! The title "Better Days" refers to the faith one must have despite the condition they may presently find themselves in. God is REAL and He will do what He said; I am a living witness. TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR THE THINGS HE HAS DONE!This album has been about 3 years in the making and the format, songs, and concept has changed a few times since, to ensure you all are provided with a clear vision of my personal interpretation, so it was important to take my time with "Better Days".All tracks were produced by my brother, and a very talented man, Lil Juan-E of Insein Productions and Studio. He is a musical genius and it was a pleasure to create and vibe with him on this album. (But, "Psalms 51 intro" and "Psalms 150/Sing A New Song", musical production was done by Ricomiguel) All lyrics, vocal arrangements, and harmonies done by myself! I thank God for this project in it's completed form, and just look out for the album and the promo tour in 2008. God Bless You All And Keep The Faith, There Are Better Days Ahead!I am working on my next album which will be alittle more mainstream gospel right now, it will include alot of the songs I've written over the years, teaching to various choirs and groups. The album will be entitled, "Tabernacle Praise", for all of you who have been asking about these songs; I haven't forgotten about you, and thank you for not forgetting about me.(Overseer, Pastor Basil Price) TEMPLE OF PRAYER APOSTOLIC CHURCH 510 GARCIA AVE. Last, but not least, I want to send a message out to those aspiring; Don't Give Up! Over the years, I have been offered 2 album deals, one for secular and one for gospel. But one thing I knew, was this, I couldn't compromise the message nor my particular sound, because I am who I am, and God called ME! I love to work with other great singers and anointed musicians, I love the marriage of talents and minds, it is an amazing experience when it happens. When I began to complete this album, I was getting alot of pressure to put it to the back burner and do some R&B stuff; then there was pressure to put out a more comtemp.-gospel album, but I know what I want and I know what I needed to do first, and it's this project, "BETTER DAYS". I pray you enjoy! My sound is my testimony, my voice is to worship and praise God; it is a gift given from God to Glorify his name! I have not compromised my music, nor my message. And because of that, I have ministered in song and seen God break spiritual chains and yokes, health and deliver, refresh and release, all through my ministry of song, and I thank Him for the miracles He has allowed me to witness as a result of my singing gift and ministry. This project took personal substance, time, and vision to complete, but God made it happen without stress, but in joy! And you guys have been right there with me, giving me the encouragement and the love that you do. God is Good and it is well with my soul, and I am grateful that I have this time to share alittle with you about my relationship with Jesus Christ. There are Better Days, Ahead! I Know This to be RIGHT! Your Later Will Be Greater!.....God Bless! -RICOMIGUEL (Elder M. Sein-Colon)

Band Members:Rico- Miguel, being translated in spanish to mean, "the Richness of Michael", or "Michael who is Wealthy"; not to say I am wealthy, but I know that God has blessed me with many spiritual and natural gifts, music being only one of them. So God has made me rich, I am rich in Him, I am wealthy because I am blessed and endowed by God for this time.
I have been blessed to write lyrics, sing the harmonies and play the music that I hear in the spirit;bringing it to it's full manifestation. God has been very good to me and in no way do I think I am even what others may call gospel, but I know that my message is for those who God has ordained to cross my path and because of that, I am glad!

MY SOUL MOMMA, AND ONE OF MY BIGGEST SUPPORTERS CHAKA KHAN, THE HIGH PRIESTESS OF FUNK AND SOUL. CHAKA'S NEW ALBUM "FUNK THIS", IN STORES NOW!My natural mother, Overseer C.D. Nichols PH.D. has been a big influence in my life and my musical ministry. I learned alot from watching her over the years. But more than anything, one thing I learned from her was the power of your gift, to not only touch, influence or change others, but it can do the same for you. My mother is a beautifully anointed vocalist and I enjoy and cherish the times we sing together. My maternal uncle, Gary Nichols has maybe had one of the biggest influences upon me because he was the first person to tell me and show me the history of Chaka Khan, pre-"I Feel For You". He use to go around the house singing and screamin Chaka, Jennifer Holiday, and Cheryl Lynn. We as children use to make fun of him, because he would be so extra with it, but I thank him for not being swayed by our laughter and teasin. He is a great vocalist as well, and we have sang next to one another and lead songs together in alot of groups. I love him and he is an awesome uncle and man. (LITA COLON' & GARY NICHOLS, right)My two maternal aunts; My Aunt Candace held my hand for years, until I was confident enough to stand and sing on my own. I learned alot from her and she was my vocal rock for many years. Another one of my biggest influences was is my Aunt Letia; an anointed musician, songwriter, and director. She could encourage and push me like no one else could. Her encouragement and direction allowed me to expand and increase in my musical gifts. Sitting and watching her play the organ, as a child; with other choirs and groups, to the place where i was old enough and groomed enough to sing in various groups and choirs under her direction. She continued to be one of my largest supporters and I thank God for her. (CANDACE FINDORA ,left & PASTOR LETIA NICHOLS )My sisters, WOW, what can I say, they all are talented in their own right. We have been together for years and we love one another despite sibling rivalry at times....LOL. Lita Colon, my youngest sister, for her constant attention. We have been in studio booths together over the years and we vibe well in studio sessions. She is an Evangelist and an anointed woman of God. Ms. Love Denise, my middle sister, she in one of my biggest fans, and she makes sure I know it. I love her and she is always around when it counts most. Lady Sonbird, my oldest sister, we are alot alike and at time people thought we were twins. She shares alot of emotion with me and I know she has my back. She is now joining me on this promo, as the promo manager; I love her and her voice indeed is blessed and anointed And our father, the late Elder Michael Miguel Sein-Colon'; he use to be so proud to hear his children sing, and i know he would be very proud right now, if he were here. He taught us how to sing in harmony, he taught us about the pride of being a "Brown Puerto Rican". He taught us to appreciate our heirtage, our cultural foods and Arts, and the love for our people. My father past on the year that my oldest son was born, so he never got the chance to hold them or be with them, but I know He would be proud of their accomplishments as well! Ti' Amor, Mi Papi!

OTHER MUSICAL INFLUENCES (Morrison and THE DOORS) (The King Of Gospel, Rev. James Cleveland) (The Queen Of Scattin', Ms. Ella Fitzgerald)(Brandy Norwood, and the cover of one of her hottest albums, "Full Moon". I have always loved her ever since she first came out with, I Want To Be Down; and i have been down with her ever since. but my favorite album has to be Full Moon, Brandy Sang that album from top to bottom, I loved it) (Ms. Ol' School, Jennifer Holiday, and awesome performer and vocalist. I often believe she hasn't gotten the props that are due her, but I love the fact that she continues on and she is not to be played with, that woman, SANGS!) (Kenny Loggins, part of my musical fiber, I love his voice, it's so angelic, yet firm. Songs like, Love Will Follow, give a deep expression from Loggin's delivery) (Prince Roger Nelson, has been influencing my sound since I started singing; I love his artistry and drive towards protection) (Michael McDonald, his voice was one of the first voices I ever remember hearing growing up; my mother was in love with his voice. He is awesome!) (Ms. Erykah Badu, one funky chick; She comes from the same musical watering grounds that I have come from, the fertile grounds, in the spirit of Ms. Chaka Khan's musical influence. She is very talented and gifted as a singer and performer; I guess I would call her my soulsista) (When I think of funky music, I think of bands like, CAMEO, The ZAPP BAND, And The S.O.S. BAND. This is funk to me, my roots, when it comes to the funky influence throughout my music) (But when it came to the funkiest band, hands down for me it was the Gap Band. Charlie Wilson's voice is one of a kind and that man sings with his whole heart, I love his voice. He know how to deliver a song and make you feel what ever it is he is saying.) (Steely Dan with Donald Fagen, his voice is so haunting and spiritual; he relaxes me. I remember hearing his voice ever since I was real young, too) (Chicago, the musical group, not the musical or movie! Peter Cetera is no joke, he is a vocal powerhouse, I have enjoyed him with family members spanding generations) ( Minnie Rippleton, Marvin Gaye, and Donnie Hathaway; Donnie was a real gem lost too soon! He was talented, emotional, and vunerable and it comes out in his music. I love his daughter Lalah, she is a talented singer and I have her albums as well!) (Hall & Oats, I call them my original Blue-eyed Soul Duo. Before I knew about racism, I knew this duo was not playing, no matter what color they were and songs like Sara Smile, Private Eyes, Method of Modern Love, and I can go on and on, are examples of their influence in my musical experience.) (The Clark Sister, they were the first group I actually listened to with the intent of learning from them. I have to say over the years, I continue to be blessed by these anointed women of God!)(Growing up and for us as a whole, Debarge was the standard, it's how and what we practiced to, and when it came to family harmonies, and song delivery, Debarge was the golden example. I thank God that Bunny has reached out to me in my ministry, and it's just a blessing for my gift to be know by this family; thay are also one of the hottest and most influencial R&B groups in modern history) (Ms. Amy Grant, a great woman of substance and of love! I love her spirit of worship, I love to experience her relationship with God through her vocals and delivery.) (One of the most understated, yet all engulfing R&B groups of modern history has to be Jodeci, they came and ruffed up R&B after the bubble gum R&B of the late 80's, they came and gave R&B back her funky roots, just as D'Angelo gave her back her Soul! Both of which have influenced my sound)REV. JAMES CLEVELAND BRANDY NORWOOD SYLEENA JOHNSON N'DAMBI YAHZERAH ERYKAH BADU SANDRA ST. VICTOR J. MOSS 112 PLAYA KIERRA SHEARD DIANA ROSS CHER (Growing up, I always thought she was a woman of color. I use to run to see the "Sonny & Cher" show, to see what Bob Mackie dresses she was going to where. I especially fell in love with her style and person after her album, "Half-Breed". I appreciate her artistry) GRACE JONES ANGELA WINBUSH MINNIE RIPERTON LALAH HATHAWAY DONNIE HATHAWAY KIM BURRELL VANESSA BELL-ARMSTRONG STEVE PERRY DOROTHY NORWOOD (I love her gift to tell a story and to share differnt experiences of life, through songs of "struggle with triumph", "heartache with joy", and patience in tribulations knowing God is the Victor!... I Thank God For Her and Her Influence in my Life and Ministry!) ELLA FITZGERALD BILLIE HOLIDAY SARAH VAUGHN JOHN COLTRANE MILES DAVIS RICKY MARTIN TITO PUENTE CHICK COREA SHELIA E. ALBITA HECTOR LAVOE SPYRO GYRA ROY AYERS PARLIMENT and many others.........
Sounds Like:This is a highly melodic style of singing that incorporates my jazz and latin influences, my soul influences, and ol' school influences: all mixed in a gumbo of classical, funk and gospel music. Lyrics are heartfelt yet open and expressive, enter into a place personal and close to the heart of the hand written words. Evoking the storytellers of the 70's, the harmonies of the 80's, and the power of the 90's. I would call this present album, "BETTER DAYS" motivational or inspirational, not what one would call traditional gospel. But the message is to be whole, because only then can you benefit yourself or anyone else! My music is life, it's about feelings behind relationships, the good ones and the bad ones, it's about self-esteem and self-worth, it's about recognizing the wolves in sheeps clothing or the devil as an angel of light, it's even about vanity and allowing havic and discord in ones life! It's about the journey, the highs and the lows, the screams and the laughter, It's about recognizing your right and responsibility to be loved and respected; It's about being in the right space and time and knowing your place with God. I wanted these tracks to be as raw as it comes! I wanted to deliver something fresh and futurist, but with the same old message! Juan-E is a genius and he definately gave me what I needed in the production of this album and I am very happy with the finished product, It's sound is something quite new in sounds and flow, but it is totally me, my vision for this project! I PRAY YOU ENJOY & IT TOUCHES YOUR SOUL. TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR THE THINGS HE HAS DONE. He's Awesome, I love what we developed together. One thing I've learned is to appreciate other talented individuals and I love to get on someone else's a hott-track. I love the challenge of getting with another talented mind and seeing what the marriage of minds produce; I guess it's the "Aries" in me!But for all of you who have sung in my choirs or been under my direction and those who are looking for my gospel album, I am recording that album now. This album will be entitled, "Tabernacle Praise"; and it will contain a few of the older songs I've written and taught other choirs and groups; songs like, "Worthy", "King of Kings", and "New Beginning". This album will also contain a couple new songs, like, "Eyes Wide Open", and "One Day..this will be over".I'm very grateful for the interest that have been shown by ALL! You all make me want to continue even when the load seem alittle heavy; but it is definately a labor of love of which I am blessed to appreciate and experience. GOD BLESS!

True, I Love to SING; But none of this will matter without the anointing of God, so more than anything, I want you to hear the influence of God in my life, and what He has done for and with me! You may hear alot of southern flow in the harmonies of my songs, and the influence of "Chaka's" wails; But I learned a long time ago to "do me" and God will bless ME; and He has! In my music you hear and experience my journey, because this is my testmony, in my words and filtered through my singing ministry. My music is real SOUL music, if I had to say one word to define me, it will have to be SOUL. Soul touching, soul effecting, soul searching, soul saving, real SOUL music. I pray it will touch your soul and be of value to you, too; Enjoy!

To make it in life, in ministry, in the industry, it takes prayer and dedication to your prayer life. There are many hinderances and distractions for anyone who is talented or anointed, and prayer is your only saving grace. So as we all continue to do the will of God concerning us, let us remember to keep the fire of prayer burning in our souls.
