Fantasy Books for Young Adults

About Me

Myspace Layouts at Pimp-My-Profile.com / Strawberry Kiwi - Image Hosting

First of all, I know this isn't a film site. I'm not a film maker. I got some stupid malicious code a long time ago that switched me to a MySpace Film account, and MySpace never switched me back. No biggie. I'm a go with the flow kinda gal.
I am a lifelong resident of southern New Jersey (please don't hold it against me). I'm also currently a substitute teacher (but wanting to teach full-time), mother, and freelance writer.
I write fantasy novels for kids, and I love doing it!
My newest book, The Ankh of Isis , has just been released by Samhain Publishing in electronic format. Look for the first of the series The Crown of Zeus , also in ebook from Samhain, and anywhere you can find ebooks(including Kindle edition at Amazon). Look for the print edition at your local bookstores on Dec. 29, 2008, OR pre-order a copy on Amazon today!
You can also find my first book, Talisman of Zandria at B&N, Amazon, and from the publisher, LBF Books. The sequel to that book, Return to Zandria can be found at B&N.com, Amazon, or LBF Books.
Pick up some neat Return to Zandria swag from my cafepress shop.
I've also done work doing English Adaptations of Japanese Light Novels for Seven Seas Entertainment.
And I'm involved with the Wizard Academies series of books, which is for fans of Harry Potter (and anyone who likes a good fantasy story about magickal kids at school!)
And I'm a member of Broad Universe an organization dedicated to promoting female writers of speculative fiction!
I am available for author visits to schools. Visit my website for more information, or e-mail me!
You can visit my homepage to see what's coming up, and to read excerpts from my books!
Loof for book reviews written by me in Tales of the Talisman , a quarterly SF/F/H print magazine.
Outside of writing, I enjoy scrapbooking, I make my own candles and I like crafts like crocheting.

My Interests

Writing, reading, crafts, candles, fantasy, crocheting, scrapbooking, fairy tales, the Renaissance, dogs, cats, Science. Yes, I said Science.

I'd like to meet:

Kids and adults who love to read, anyone who likes to write, and fans of fantasy. I’m also learning a lot about Japanese Light Novels, so if you’re into those, I’d like to meet you too!

Teachers, librarians, people who work with kids and kids’ books are all all right in my book. I love most people, actually. Except mean ones. Mean people suck.

Crafters, candlemakers, people who sew, and I used to be involved in the local SCA, so if you like things Medieval and Renaissance, I’d be happy to meet you.

Music:

So many different things! Country music, but not sappy stuff - Dixie Chicks, Big ’n Rich, Gretchen Wilson.

Kelly Clarkson. Yeah, I know, but what can you do. If it’s any consolation, I also like Pink.

Oh, and now I’m a big fan of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Movies:

Sheesh, why not ask me which star in the sky is my favorite? I love movies. Let’s see...Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Devil Wears Prada, The Mummy, Movie Musicals like Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, and the Wizard of Oz. The Italian Job, Dogma, National Treasure.I love it all. Not so much the Die Hard variety, but I love most film genres.

Television:

While I pretty much detest reality TV (how many seasons of Survivor DO we need?), there are some I like, so there are some on the list.

The list: Ugly Betty, CSI (original only!), House, Desperate Housewives, Criminal Minds, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, LA Ink, Ghosthunters, Pushing Daisies.

Books:

Peter Pan, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Harry Potter, anything by Tamora Pierce, Bartimaeus Trilogy, Empress of Clouds (Diana Hignutt), Roald Dahl everything!, Wizard Academies books , James Owen’s Imaginarium Geographica series, Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians books. And of course Tolkien, Lewis, Carroll, Nesbitt and Andersen. :)
