No... I don't like Marmite!

About Me

I’m just a normal person who loves life and really loves to smile :c)
Apart from playing the piano from the age of 5 the only other musical experience I have is listening to music, Karaoke and singing in the shower. December 2006 at the age of 34 I started my singer songwriting love affair. I wrote a couple of songs, recorded them in my kitchen and uploaded them onto Soundclick. I received some great encouragement so I wrote some more and more and more and... well you get the idea!
Through the internet I have met some great musician friends around the world (New Zealand, USA, Germany, Ireland) who I sometimes get to jam, write and record with... (via email!) but most of the time it's just me.
Most of my tunes are uploaded onto Soundclick and are free to download... I've decided to leave them all there - even the first songs I wrote and recorded using the family PC with an old soundcard and cheap mic. There's lot's of white noise on some of them, and as I had never played a guitar before a few of the guitar parts are samples... but I think you shouldn't be ashamed of where you started... hopefully it will encourage others to try…
Anyways... now I have upgraded my soundcard and bought a better mic but I have never recorded in a studio... maybe I will one day! I've been playing live around my local area of Peterborough since Nov 2007... and have to say I absolutely love it!!!
Here's some nice things people have been saying about me!...

(Peterborough Evening Telegraph, Review of Axiom Homeless Action Songwriting Final, December 1st 2007)
...As well as being an important evening for the new charity, it was a big night for Lexie Green. This country-inflected singer/songwriter made her debut live performance at the competition, and won over a dumbstruck audience in less than a minute with a vocal control that was nothing short of breathtaking. Another new talent to look out for.

(Art and Soul Magazine, Review of Axiom Homeless Action Songwriting Final, January 2008)
... The third act is solo acoustic artist Lexie Green, the only person of all tonights musicians not below the age of 20. She explains to us before she starts that she has only been writing songs for eleven months, playing the guitar for ten, and before this gig her only other performances have been in her kitchen in front of a laptop and microphone. My stomach tightens when I hear this, wondering how she is going to go down next to the two polished previous acts, but she sings two lines and everything else melts away. Lexie has one of the best, sweetest voices that has been heard around this city for some considerable time. The strumming is simple, though the chords are not as obvious as you'd expect for someone who has been playing for such a short time, but simplicity is a perfect platform for her voice, which mesmerises. During opener "Everything's Alright" and second song "Then Scream", Green calls to mind Martha Wainwright, then Emmylou Harris, then back again, delivering emotional lyrics with a country lilt. She tells us the story behind third offering and competition entry "Stars and Satellites", before once again weaving thoughtful lyrics through simple chords, and adding to them a beautiful voice. This may have been her first gig, but it will definitely not be her last.

(The Cambs Times - Review of The Glass Onion, March 2008)
The event was to celebrate talented women all over the Peterborough area... The next performer to grace the stage with her guitar was also a singer/song writer, Lexi Green. She had a gorgeous voice which had a deep South Texas Country feel, she sounded like a cross between Nancy Griffith and Tammy Wynett. Her songs were catchy, melodic and fun. I was really impressed with her guitar playing as she'd only been playing for a year.
