Richard Groom

About Me

In 1997 Richard plucked up the courage to sing two of his songs at London's famous Bunjies folk cellar. Since that first attempt at singing in public he has written many more songs and developed into a confident performer. Though normally a private person, Richard shares his life story through his music about troubled relationships (those damn women again), past loves and dreams for the future, all mixed with comical banter in between. Recently Cherish Burk (member of Leicestershire indie-folk group Hoax Funeral) has joined him playing percussion and keyboards, causing many to compare them to The Swell Season. The comparison isn't very accurate, but perhaps understandable given the way Richard's lyrics and vocals seem to meld neatly with Cherish's delicate playing.
