About Missy Chrissy:
Music has always been a major part of Chrissy’s life. She is the third generation to be born and raised in beautiful West Vancouver, BC. She has always been extremely musically independent. Teaching herself to play the piano at the age of 3 years old, all musical things have always come naturally to her. At age 14 she taught herself to play guitar, and began playing in her highschool’s band "Backstage", where she sang and performed at lunch hour in the school’s main entrance. After moving to Prince George after graduation in 1999, she attended UNBC, where she met many people who were into the dj’ing and techno scene up north. Many of her friends owned Techs, so she spent alot of time watching and learning from all the surrounding people who played records. In 2000, Chrissy found two old turntables at value village, and bought an old mixer from a friend, and slowly but surely taught herself the basics of how to (poorly) mix two records together. After upgrading equipment a few months later, her passion was house and speed garage. Everything finally clicked. She got her first gig in the summer of 2001, and after that, there was no stopping her. Chrissy entered herself into many local dj contests at the local clubs, coming in 4th in her first contest and hitting 3rd place a few months later. After playing for many local production companies, the Northern scene began to slow down, and Chrissy decided it was time to start her own scene. Missy Productions began in 2002 with her first show, and shortly after, Missy Productions was one of the leading companies in Northern BC for electronic music and dj’s. With resident dj’s such as Grooverobber, Monte Martens and Lando, Missy Productions had it’s last show in on New Years 2004 - with over 1,000 people in attendance. Chrissy moved back to Vancouver in 2004, where she broke through the Vancouver scene with her first "Missy Productions" stage at Apex 2005. With a growing reputation from her first show, she contributed to the local scene by helping with nights at Tribecca restaurant, as well as playing for huge Vancouver-based promoters, Evolve Entertainment, Unconscious Bros, Slapfunk All-Stars and PH1.
Missy got her big break in March of 2005, where she played along side Josh the Funky 1, Aquasky and Anabolic Frolic in Calgary, Alberta. After the show, she gained a residency with Alberta promoters Vinylsluts (www.vinylsluts.ca).
From there, she was asked to open for Playboy’s Dj Diamond in April of 2006, and once again, Missy Chrissy rocked the Vancouver scene that summer, with her All-Female "Missy Productions" stage at Apex Project 2006. Featuring herself and many world-renound talents such as Ill-Esha, Miss Marz and B.Traits (LTC).
Chrissy continues to support BC’s female talent, she has been making her way east accross Canada - headlining shows from Nanaimo to Prince George to Calgary to Saskatoon.
