My Love for house music, it's all you need to know ;)
Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, only to later emigrate to Canada, this innovative DJ has found a home in Calgary, and a career in house music.
Growing up under a veil of heavy influence within genres of 80's electronic music ranging from New Order to Depeche Mode, Tito drew much of his taste for electronica from various artists, such as Sneaker Pimps, Scissor Sisters, Depeche Mode, New Order, and Kelli Ali. Eventually, after the electronic music industry underwent the 90's Euro influence days, and due to being an avid fan of the now defunct television series, Electric Circus. Tito had enough drive to increase his motivations which would later lead him to pursue a DJ/Producer career.
At this point, Tito Rodriguez was hooked on sound; the sound of electronica.
Finally, in 2002, his first exploration into DJing happened while he was roaming the busy streets of Vancouver. He walked by a local store and noticed a collection of various electronica records. It was there he bought his first few records.
He then undertook the original DJ name of Euphorian Angel, as he began collecting music from genres like Hard Trance to Happy Hardcore. Thoroughly and rapidly his sound evolved with time, as he was captivated by the musical stylings of Bad Boy Bill, Hatiras, Antoine Clamaran and many more bangin' house pioneers. Later with an ever adapting and completely new respect for house music, Tito chose a new identity that fit him better alongside his newly established passion for the sound of house.
Rodriguez then shortly undertook the meaningful alias of DJ Titus1 and ventured into spinning music under this alias in March of 2003.
After long practice sessions with his gear, his first big break came when he was offered a residency at an after-hours club called !gnite. He adapted his style of progressive and uplifting trance to draw a supporting crowd, and he captivated clubbers with his mixing. This transition generated an invitation to his first rave event: Children of Energy. After such an event, it caused a motion in Tito's life, that would later generate more experience in playing out in various calibre shows, and clubs. Some of those memorable shows including: the infamous festival featured in Stuff for Men Magazine, known as Apex Project, Ministry of Sound NYE Editions, Ministry of Sound REDD, San Francisco Love Parade, and many more.
In Rodriguez's mission to spread his talent and love for music to a variety of people and places, he later made a transitionary movement to Calgary, where he developed a lasting relationship with fellow DJ Jayson Faser (Jay Fraid). Both artists had the vision to give back to the underground scene, and so together they formed Elemental Entertainment.
Rodriguez's passion grew with time, as he matured as an established electro house DJ and producer, along with this growth, he was invited to join Western Canada's premier production company, Boodang Music Canada.
Mixing experience with a driving performance of tasteful house and electro, Titus1 combines such elements with a sprinkling of garage flavour. In an always exciting show, this crowd-pleasing DJ has played across the continent in numerous cities, festivals, and soldout club shows across Canada and the United States. He has also had the opportunity to play alongside world famous DJs like: Dirty South, Vandalism (Australia), Dusty Kid, Steve Angello (Sweden), Chris Lake (UK), Axwell (Sweden), Fedde Le Grand, Dirty Vegas aka Paul Harris, Yoji Biomehanika, Armin Van Buuren, Josh The Funky 1, Andy Moor, Starkiller aka Nick Terranova, DERB, Digtal Kid (Tidy Trax UK), Dave Armstrong, Sander Van Doorn, Brian Cheetham (UK), Paul Jackson (Ministry of Sound UK), Amber D, Hatiras (Toronto), The Thrillseekers, Suzy Solar, Fred Baker, Luke Fair, Mark Oliver (Guvernment Nightclub, Toronto), Glenn Morrison, Sander Van Doorn, Andy Daniels (Hed Kandi UK), Judge Jules, Marco V (NL), Heavygrinder, Tech-Itch, Paul Maddox (Tidy UK), Austin Leeds, George Acosta (Florida), Marc Hughes (Ministry of Sound UK), DJ Preach, Richard Durand, DJ Dean (Germany), Ron Reeser (San Fransisco), Christopher Lawrence, Marcel Woods, Shawn Mitiska, Guyver (Tidy UK), Gabriel & Dresden, Sebastien Leger, Mark Sherry, Johan Gielen, Donald Glaude, Cosmic Gate, Steve Murano, Filo & Peri, Hyperfunk (Seattle), Scott Bond, Fx Logik, DJ Mea and Stonebridge (UK) to name a few.
Aside from opporunities to play with such artists, Titus1 has also had the great honour and accomplishment of being chosen to play for numerous Ministry of Sound's New Years Editions, Ministry of Sound's REDD Canada Day Celebration, in Calgary, and including San Francisco's infamous Love Parade in 2008. Today the list grows, as he is also an integral part of prodominant companies such as Boodang Music Canada, and Fluent Recordings. Be sure to catch his electrified sets, full of energy, and uplifting smooth basslines. Witness why he is a much favoured local in Calgary, and why he has not only in the past years held residencies at numerous Calgary clubs, but also has residency in Halifax's own Embassy Nightclub, and has travelled abroad.
This year sees Tito taking an even more responsible role as a producer in the electronic music industry. With handfuls of productions coming on release on numerous labels, he has been working hard in the studio as of late. Including successful remix of Kaysh 'Traces of Fish', Talla2XL's 'No In Between', MuzikJunki's 'Hit The Spot', Anything But Monday's 'Sweat', Deadmau5 & Melleefresh 'Attention Whore', and many originally written tracks.
Today Rodriguez's current sound has been described as tasteful, electro house with a twist of bassheavy delight. Expect a few surprises over the coming months from DJ Titus1 - Rodriguez simply refuses to stand still.
