Dj Drafted (Tyson Pekarek), co-founder of Soundgirls, and long time member of Future Roots (An international collective of artists dedicated to furthing the drum n bass scene). Drafted was born with an affinity for drum and bass music. In 2001, he became involved in hip-hop culture within Vancouver, and organized several breakdancing competitions, which eventually led him into the rave scene. Starting his own production company “Black Crack Entertainment”, based out of Edmonton, Alberta, he began his venture into the Drum and Bass scene. Black Crack Entertainment’s focus was showcasing talent based out of Edmonton and headliners from his hometown of Vancouver, BC. After relocating himself back to the west coast, his career began to soar. Playing alongside international talent such as Shy Fx, Skibadee, John.B, Sub-Focus, Shimon, Capital J, Chase and Status, Reid Speed, Freaky Flow, Psidream, TZA, Slip N Slide, Demolition Man, and local heroes such as Slim Pickins, Pete Flex, Krusha, and Pacific, just to name a few. Drafted has proven himself to be one Vancouver’s floor running Dj’s, with unique and abstract mixes he continues to set off any dance floor he leads. Discovering not only a love for jungle, but an outstanding talent in all aspects of break beats.
FUTURE ROOTS is a diverse collective of talented artists sharing a vision of elevating the profile of underground music . Members situated in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and worldwide can be found pushing the sounds of Drum & Bass, Jungle, Breakbeats, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae, Dancehall and Funk. A variety of special events, club nights, radio shows, podcasts, DJ mixes and press coverage has cemented FUTURE ROOTS at the forefront of a musical revolution. With major moves prepared for 2007, the FUTURE ROOTS crew is constantly striving to provide you the finest in nightlife entertainment and underground culture.
