About Me

I've always been into music (electronic and non electronic) and somehow I stumbled into the Vancouver underground scene back in 1997. Was instantly drawn into everything that was going on and a couple years later I started to get into djing and putting on events thru DJ Dr Phreak. In the last few years I have really got into producing and want to work more on making tracks. To be honest I didn't think I would ever start making music when I first got involved but I guess it just turned into a natural progression. When I first started djing I was playing mainly hard trance and acid but from the time I spent in Europe it changed my style to something more along the lines of techno. When I play out it's usually more on the harder side but I do enjoy listening to a wide variety of styles! That's the cool thing I find with producing - you can take all the sounds, influences and styles you like and create something that you feel would best describe youself. I think I am in the beginning stages of the whole production thing but I know it can take a long time before things start coming together so I'll just keep plugging away at it slowly.Actually I now have a new found appreciate for Drum and Bass after listening to a mix cd by John B. I love his stuff, it's so refreshing and a nice change from the usual DnB sounds I have heard. Also came across this group called Noisia from Holland who produce DnB too. I can't get enough of this remix they did of 'Fade 2 Grey' by Visage. It's soooo good!Anyways, I've been really slow at updating my profile on here but I'll keep adding things bit by bit when I have the time.
Below you can read my dj bio....
Cheers!

-----------------------------
Colleen started performing as a DJ in 1999, but she first got involved in the electronic music scene back in 96/97 from such influences as Front 242, Depeche Mode and New Order. She then became acquainted with the art of spinning through DJ Dr Phreak and in the fall of 1997 she helped him run the 1409 Afterhours. It became quite popular in the Vancouver underground as they were able to host such djs as Mike Huckaby and David Alvarado.
Since 1998 Colleen has worked with the Soundproof Crew - a promotions group that is responsible for building up the underground party scene on the Canadian Westcoast by putting on quality events that cater mostly towards the harder techno and trance genres. Working with Soundproof allowed Colleen to build up her dj skills and it was not long after she soon expanded her territory and started playing shows all across North America and was invited to play in Australia in 2001. Then near the end of 2002 she had the opportunity to make her way over to Europe to dj and one year later she decided to relocate to Graz Austria to focus more on production and spinning.
Colleen started out mainly playing trance and acid but during her time in Europe she became quite heavily influenced from the British, German and Swedish techno producers around and her style has now evolved into a unique blend of techno, tech-trance, funky techno and acid techno. From her time in Europe she was able to build up a solid reputation and this gave her the opportunity to be billed with mainstay artists such as Claude Young, Technasia, Chris Liberator, Dave the Drummer, Massimo, Dean Rodell, Renato Cohen, Jay Denham, British Murder Boys, James Ruskin, Pacou Asuna and Billy Nasty.
While she was in Austria Colleen worked for Goathead Records, Futuretech Artist Management and Zeiger Promotions. As well, in 2005 Colleen helped run the Unknown Forces and Drumworks record labels, which are based out of the UK, with Dean Rodell and they also started up the Subdivision Bookings and Records but sadly these projects came to an end in September 2005. After spending two years in Europe, Colleen decided to make the move back to Canada and is now based out of Vancouver BC. She is currently working on producing her own music, has done collaboration work with Dean Rodell and worked briefly with Lori the Hifi Princess. As well, Colleen stays active in the electronic scene by writing a monthly column for the Australian based electronic music website, 12AM.com.au, and this features dj interviews and event reviews/pictures.
WORLDWIDE SHE HAS PLAYED IN: Canada, USA, Australia, Slovenia, Ireland, Croatia, Slovakia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Serbia, Hungary, Italy, Belgium, England
