The man in the photo is Steve Garland, producer/engineer at Happy Room Studios. Steve is the man with the golden ear, and almost everything passes through his mixing brain before it gets out. Steve lives here. A lot. He has a bull whip made of kangaroo hide, and all the analog goodness in the world. Which you can't hear, because this is a computer, and it doesn't speak analog.
We sometimes tape analog, and then transfer to digital in the hopes of retaining some of the warmth. This works sometimes. Someday we will produce real beautiful vinyl. This will make Steve make funny noises.
I'm Sam. I live here too. I maintain this page, but Steve is looking over my shoulder sometimes. If you say anything funny, I'm required by law to tell him about it while he's got his mouth full. I'm doing lots of projects, some directly with Steve. They are the top 4 friends, go forth and listen.The Happy Room is where tons of music gets made, bands rehearse until stupid o'clock, and mayhem ensues. It's very messy. Every once in a while we all clean like mad, but it's to no avail. Sometimes we charge money for producing "outside" recordings, but mostly it's an in-house operation.
The Star Spangled Banner is performed entirely by Steve Garland, on 18 separate vocal tracks. This was the very first finished digital recording done in the Happy Room, December 2004.
Rockadore II is conceived and performed entirely by Alex Volkonsky, guitarist for Legend of the Bat, Bill C and the B's, and Mutatio Formae.
Ariel's Friend is a new Legend of the Bat recording of a song by Charles Coates, previously unreleased.
