Bare Bones' short, happy life spanned the years 1989 to 1995. During this time the Montreal duo put out half a dozen albums and eps, and played venues ranging from coffeehouses to roadhouses to concert halls in all but a couple of Canada's provinces & territories (sorry, NL & NWT), both under their own steam and in tandem with acts ranging from Johnny Clegg to Ani DiFranco to Timbuk3.
They called it a day (amicably) in 1995, when Suzanne heeded the siren call of Toronto, where she transmogrified into Sue de Nym, and a video editor at TVO/TFO. Patrick stayed in Mon-ray-al, gave into his latent trad/folk gene, then started worldbilly trio Swift Years with two Hungarians he met playing in a Celtic band.
In 2005 Suzanne was visiting Mtl, and wanted to go out on a Monday night. Her & Patrick moseyed down to the the Wheel Club Hillbilly Night (then in its 41st year!) and wound up playing Hank Williams and Patsy Cline numbers with the house band. This led to talk of doing a reunion show, then the reality of it in May 2006, and the pleasant discovery that they hadn't forgotten how to ride their bikes. Not only that, they'd maybe learnt a thing or two in the interim: "Youse guys are like fiiiiine wine" was a sentiment expressed by more than one happy camper at the reunion shows in Toronto & Montreal.
Currently Patrick & Suzanne, while still separated by a long stretch of Highway 401, are happy to play shows whenever the stars align.
