News - 10/17/07
While we can't yet tell you our new band name or give you a specific date about when we'll be releasing our new songs, we wanted to thank you for your patience and for hanging in there with us. These three new songs are coming out great and we've got about a week left to finish recording with our friend Jersey (Visit him in our top friends, please). After that, it'll take a couple weeks to get the songs edited and mixed. We're thinking that we might release all 3 of these songs for free. We hope you like that idea.
Thanks for all of your love notes and reminders that you'd still like our songs if we had a different band name.

Friend of the Summer
FRIEND OF THE SUMMER-- (JUNE-AUG 2007)
Thindar Kline
We have been asked numerous times over the tenure of our band, "Oh, wise and cool TDL boyz, where did you come up with that beautiful name, 'Thin Dark Line?'" or, "Hey, certifiable geniuses, I really like your name, but how did you come up with something as intriguing and worldly as 'Thin Dark Line?'" Well, today we're willing to share our little secret. One of the oldest friends of our band is a boy named Thindar Kline. Thindar is a devout practicer of Judaism and grew up in the faraway land of India. He was brought up as a tech support rep for Dell Computers and then at the ripe young age of 14, his family moved to America. His first goal in America was to learn the entire Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's theme song. As a true genius and a hard worker, he was able to accomplish that dream in less than 7 months.
Thin Dark Line members Bryan and Mike met Thindar while they were adopting a highway (Hey, the charges were dropped, no one ever proved anything, so back off!). The Kline family happened to live on this highway and Thindar would see the boys collecting trash along his road once a week. On the hottest summer day in mid-august, Thindar brought some cool spiced Indian tea and a dreidel to Bryan and Mike while they worked. Although they hadn't met previously, the TDL Boyz were touched by the kindness of this stranger. Thindar didn't think much of it; he was used to this kind of generosity from his experiences in both Judaism and India. The boys thanked Thindar for his generosity and vowed to return to show their gratitude if they were ever released from prison.
Although the TDL Boyz have not yet been released from prison, they started a tribute band to the boy that had touched them so deeply: they named their band after him. After some misprints on their first few show fliers, the band settled on the name Thin Dark Line. Thindar is an inspiration to the band and inmates everywhere. Thin Dark Line have vowed to not rest until the kindness of Thindar's simple act have been repaid: Their ultimate goal is to rid the world of people who may not know about Thindar Kline.THANK YOU AND CONGRATS, FRIEND OF THE SUMMER--!!
