About Me

My name is DJ, and this is why I'm hot.

I'm a freshman business major at the University of Maryland, College Park (GO TERPS). I play saxophone in the marching band there, and I'm the drummer in the contemporary worship band for the school's Lutheran Student Association. I sing and play guitar in the band Morningside Drive with 4 of my closest friends, and play drums in the band Good Luck Elijah with the other 4 of my closest friends. I love creating and listening to music, and I would do absolutely anything for the people I care about. I don't really like talking about myself, but I do like listening to other people. I'm not shy and I love meeting new people, so please feel free to talk to me!

My Interests

Music mostly. I love skiing as well, but sadly I'm not very good. Photography is neat. I write a lot of stuff too, mostly either humor or poetry ("poetry" is what I call the songs I write that I never set to music).

I'd like to meet:

Anyone. Everyone. YOU! Although if I never meet anyone again, I think I'd be pretty overjoyed with the people that I already know.

Music:

All Rights Reserved, Lovett, This Day and Age, A Perfect Kiss, Brand New, Underoath, The Almost, Morning for the Masses, Valencia, Promise of Redemption, The Apathy Eulogy, Taking Back Sunday, The Hint, Vienna, You Me and Everyone we Know, Arden, All Time Low, The Morning Of, Paramore, Thin Dark Line, This Providence, Rookie of the Year, Five Iron Frenzy, Relient K, Snow Patrol, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Hank Levy, Stan Kenton Big Band, Weather Report, Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Modest Mouse, My Chemical Romance, Fallout Boy, Cute is What we Aim For, and about a million more bands in a million more genres. I even like showtunes. That's right. I said it. Showtunes.

Movies:

STAR WARS!, Nightmare Before Christmas, Donny Darko, Breakfast Club, Evil Dead I, II, and Army of Darkness, Dogma, The Matrix Trilogy, old school Disney when I'm feeling youthful, STAR WARS AGAIN! Other than that, I really don't watch too many movies.

Television:

Scrubs, The Office (British or American), The Daily Show/Colbert Report, Arrested Development. I don't watch TV.

Books:

Crime and Punishment (Dostoevsky), The Brothers Karmazov (Dostoevsky), Invisible Monsters (Palahniuk), The Great Gatsby (Fitzgerald), Tender is the Night (Fitzgerald), Poetry of TS Eliot, Breakfast of Champions (Vonnegut), Deadeye Dick (Vonnegut), The Da Vinci Code (Brown), Heart of Darkness (Conrad), Angels and Demons (Brown), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Stoppard), The Stranger (Camus), A Clockwork Orange (Burgess), The Wanting Seed (Burgess), Tremor of Intent (Burgess), Greek/Norse mythology

Heroes:

All Rights Reserved. Bryan Barnes. Phil Woods. Most professional musicians, whether I like their music or not, just because they have the guts to go out there and do it.
