About Me

Loophole
..
the new jazz vanguard
As part of the new vanguard of creative jazz musician, Tim Hopkins is just as likely to be seen (and heard) jammin’ with a DJ or at work in his home studio, as he is presenting a night of contemporary original music in classic jazz combo mode.
His eclectic tastes and innate musicality have brought him to the attention of jazz gurus, Vince Jones, Paul Grabowsky, Mike Nock, Mark De Clive Lowe, Nathan Haines, pop icons, You Am I, Kate Ceberano, Midnight Oil, international artists, Pherone Acklaff, Arthur Blythe, rappers, King Kapisi, indy guitar legends, Ed Kuepper, funksters, Doug Williams, Jackie Orzasky, and DJ’s, Kevin Yost, Gordon Bennet Project.
A native New Zealander, Hopkins decided to return to his home land in 1999 to develop some ideas that he had for a new album after studying for 6 months in New York. “Hear Now After” (due for release mid year) features many of the musicians listed above, with an older and wiser Hopkins on his beloved tenor saxophone.
