MySpace LayoutsIndia Czajkowska, a composer, vocalist and pianist.She studied at the Secondary School of Music in Lodz(Poland).She also graduated at Institute of Philosophy, Warsaw University. India is interested in vocal experiments, with the sonoristic aspects and creating electronical soundscapes with voice, uses prepared piano.The music she creates is partly based on the classical instruments such as string quartet, piano, double-bass, basoon combined with the experimental elements of using the electronics, computer and sonoristic sounds. She is working with some modern concepts of music being as well definitely connected with chamber acoustic sound and some classical and repeatitive music influences. * Since 1997 she has been giving the concerts with her acoustic group - NESS and solo concerts (piano&vocal) performing her compositions.She is the author of instrumental forms, songs and lyrics. The pieces she created for the band Ness were arranged for violin, cello, clarinet, trumpet, double-bass, piano and congas.Morover she performed old traditional Jewish motives and songs of Mordechaj Gebirtig in her own arrangements with the group Cadyk Ensemble (cello, violin, clarinet, cajon) In 1999 they played at the Festival Of Jewish Songs in the Jewish Theatre (Warsaw) * One of the main interests of her musical activity is creating the sound-tracks for the films and music for the theatre.India Czajkowska cooperated with NRS GROUP from Sydney (documentary,"Poland's New Jews"). She has worked with the director Andrzej Titkow well known in Poland creating the music for the film about the painter, Ewa Kuryluk. She wrote the music for the performans of The Theatre of TVP (2004) and for the young polish director of independent films, Sebastian Durbacz. India composed the music and played (live) the traditional oriental instruments in the theatrical performans by Piotr Filonowicz (Teatr 108, Teatr Drzewo Peruna).Besides as a singer she cooperated a composer Bartek Gliniak, creating the sound track for the Sweedish film by Agnieszka Lukasiak, "Algeria.The Nameless War"(see: film/theatre music) * Yet another area of her artistic interests is contemporary improvised music that she performs as a pianist and vocalist. In-between 2002-2004 she was leading her project KONSTELACJE that was imagined as a cycle of concerts of improvised music - in music club Jazzgot. (PKiN,Warsaw). This cycle of events presented various sound spectrum created by different constellations of invited musicians. Some of them:Tadeusz Sudnik-live electronics, Raphael Roginski-guitar, loops, Zofia Dowgiallo-harp, Stworywodne.Jaszczury(as a group), Karolina Wojaczek-cello, Vagif.O.Pavuck - bass. In 2003 she was recording and giving concerts with the guitarist Noel Akchote.She was cooperated with a clarinet-player Michal Górczynski recording some materials in studio with the improvising Quartet (two clarinets, perc.,vocal). Last year she took a part in the workshops Music for Creative Chamber Group lead by Joe Giardullo in The Centre for Contemporary Arts (Warsaw) and she was a participant of workshops with John Butcher in France (Stage D’Improvisation Musicale & Choreographique, Festival NPAI, Parthenay 2004) * Since 2003 she has worked with the formation Stworywodne.Jaszczury in an improvised project based on ambient, noise and post-rock elements.In 2004 they were invited by yass artist, Jerzy Mazzoll, to play a concert in Parlament (Gdansk) and they gived many gigs in Warsaw. HIPNAGOG is her newest project created with the percussionist Tomek Choloniewski, Marek Choloniewski-composer of electronical music (and the director of international festival AUDIO ART), and the guitarist, Marcin Dymiter. The first performans of this group one could hear at the festival UNSOUND in Cracow (October 2004) The music of Hipnagog is a kind of experimental noise/ambient patchworks coloured with samples and acousitic sounds of voice and percussion. The cool and deep landscapes, looped and influenced by laptop live mixing by Marek Choloniewski * As a vocalist she has many various experiences incuding post-rock, improvised music, trip-hop, Indian traditional music, etno-jazz, Jewish songs. She has been invited to many projects. She worked with Elektra Kurtis, a Greek violinist from U.S.A. and her group Ensemble Elektra co-operating with such musicians as: Elektra Kurtis,Bradley Johnes, Kelvyn Bell, Abby Fogle.This co-operation resulted in an album The Book Of Time (1999) that presents modern jazz pieces including rythms and motives of Greek music, released in New York. For two years she was working as an improvising singer with Drum Freaks of Milo Kurtis giving lots of concerts with: Bob Steward, Wlodek Kiniorski, Yanina Iwanski, Wallis Buchannan. In 2000 the album was completed rooted in jazz and folk motives and rythms.(Milo Records&Program III Polskiego Radia). As a guest musician she appeared on the Lux Occulta's album presenting the trip-hop songs (The Mother And The Enemy, 2001, Maquiavel Music Entertainement, Portugal )being was described in the reviews as an impressive vocalist with "hipnotic, sensual" voice. India performed concerts with the group Le Plastique Mystification, dark ambient mixed with trip-hop style using piano and voice. And, as a guest, she played improvised music with the Cannadian gongmaster, Don Coreaux in 2004..
