Matt first picked up a guitar at the tender age of 9. Initially studying classical music, he quickly moved on to more contemporary sounds. After a stint on the Cardiff band scene in the late 80s, Matt began developing his harmonic knowledge and technique. Having competed in the first ever Louis Award competition in 1996, he began writing as a Jazz critic and has been published by Jazzwise and The Guitar Magazine. Matt has collaborated with the studio based collective SOKI2U and the songwriter / producer Mick Lee and continues to work on his own material, some of which should find it's way onto this page shortly.
