"See, I love 47 different genres in one film. I hate one-thing films. And I love B movies. But why not have three or four Bs running together? Like a little hive!" - David Lynch
The above quote illustrates what inspired the diversity of musical genres that are encapsulated within the overall sound of Soki2u. We are a loose federation of independent musicians based in UK, Japan and France. Our music spans genres from alternative rock and experimental pop to soundtrack, accoustic and ambient. Each of the contributing musicians write and arrange their material independently and most have their own solo projects, or are part of other acts. The tracks are produced collectively.
Since late 2006 we have had four No 1 tracks on the BANDS UNSIGNED UK TOP 30 chart, last of which was Charl Jean Bouwer (aka Peyote)'s "Open Window". In 2006 we won the Bands Unsigned UK's Platinum Award, and in one of several positive reviews, Indie-Music described our sound as 'reminsicent of a David Lynch B movie soundtrack'!.
We have just finished our first full-length album, SEEING FACES, which includes Charl Jean Bouwer's 'Open Window'. The song 'A Circle Of Sorrow', also appears on the soundtrack of a short film-noir directed by Stephane Floc'hlay ('Cissenar', December 2007). The tracks of 'SEEING FACES' can be heard on our Myspace player. Videos for some of the songs, such as Sarah Panton's 'Valantine'; Charl Jean Bouwer's 'Open Window'; Mart Giebner's 'Cold Town' and Ran Wang's 'You're Tearing Out My Heart' are on Youtube, as are superb videos for 'A Circle of Sorrow' and David Floc'hlay's track 'Paradise'. Other songs from SEEING FACES, such as Brendan Lynch's 'Nothing Unknown' and a demo mix of Derek's 'Death By Intention?', featured on an American compilation CD set released in December 2007
We hope you enjoy the tracks! - Respect - SOKI2U
