About Me

Thank you for visiting my virtual space. It tells you a few things about me and my relationship with music. Please have a browse through my "Friends" section - Many of them are real-life friends and close to my heart, some are musicians with truly exceptional talent and capabilities, and many are both.
My pride and joy is a Simon & Patrick CW 6 cutaway; many instrumentals are played on what i call my "phantom", a silent yamaha bodyless classical electric guitar; for funky or rocky stuff i like my Fender Strat. No, seriously, i do.
You can listen to a small selection of my own music here - i do lots of different things, some of which are decidedly adventureous (for that read "off the wall") but very little is recorded yet. Mostly I play guitar for others - musicians i collaborated with liked the fact that i listen before i play.
I'm also looking for people who would like to contribute to my stuff - in particular i'd love to hear from vocalists, cellists, flutists and percussionists, but whatever your instrument, i'm up for a jam.
Or a pint. Ideally both.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: You are looking at it.
Band Members: What's up here is all me - haven't found collaborators for my own music yet. I'm still looking.

Most recently I have been invited to record a track for the forthcoming second album by SOKI2U - a loose collaboration of musicians from very different walks of life, based all over the globe, and held together by two wonderfully talented guys, Derek Schuurman and Brendan Lynch. This is a great honour for me - my humble song will be enriched by Brendan's production magic and in the end sit next to some of the most amazing and eclectic talent you'll ever hear. Please read my blog, or (even better) visit http://www.myspace.com/soki2u for details!

JOHNNY DU TOIT (pronounced like the "troit" in "detroit" without the r) is a master of contemporary songwriting. This guy is amazing! I've had the honour to play with him at some of his gigs last year and record some guitar riffing for his forthcoming EP.

I have also collaborated with Brazil-born vocalist Thereza Rowe on her "surrealist" material, and played guitar at live gigs for welsh singer Louise Latham, at the Tivoli in Holland (supporting STEVIE ANN), de.bees, Green College and others.

The great guys from pollen8 have recently invited me to the fantastic de.bees music bar in Cheshire - please follow this link to see a LIVE VIDEO of me performing "THE ROAD TO CAPETOWN" - done by IAN SCANLAN of absolutemedia.com! Please listen to the other artists on this site too, there's a lot of great music.

It's also well worth checking out these sites - have a look, you'll find great music, good advice, new chords, lively discussions, nice people, and much more:

Influences: For what it's worth, i don't think i'd be doing anything worthwhile without the bonds, points of reference, friendship and love of my close friends (you know who you are!!) and the amazingly wonderful lady who graces my life now (you know who you are, too!! :-) - helping each other to grow is what it's all about.

The music of others in my head: the songwriter PAUL WILKES; the guitarists ERIC ROCHE, STUART RYAN, AMRIT SOND and MICHEAL DUNNEGAN. Much else.

The wonderful sounds i hear around me more frequently:
JOHNNY DU DOIT; ALISTAIR ARTINGSTALL; SIMON MIDDLETON; JESSICA GRACE; JONT

Further:

Scottish skies, the smell of water, climbing mountains and walking along coastlines...

...nearly drowning in the river Danube at the age of 5, losing and winning, giving and taking; Strong coffee, spiky plants, good wine, a beautiful traveller and the random kindness of strangers...

Being in love like there is no tomorrow, or lonely like Kim Jong Il in "Team America"...

Pentak Silat (Pangeran Mihar G=Sentak), Skiing, Running and Fencing, running into fences, Rice Cakes, Ginger/Honey and Lemon, my mobile phone, cats, the gift of a stranger's smile...

And probably You.

Sounds Like: ...whatever is missing in the music of whoever I make music with.
Type of Label: None
