"...The guys take the stage with a quiet confidence...they're just as excited to play each show as I'm now going to be at the thought of seeing them perform again from here on out. From start to finish, the band put on a nearly perfect set...high on an infectious energy. The group's rootsy, bluesy, punk-infused sound compiles rock history in five-minute increments, while managing to push the sound in new directions.
What's more, Jacob Hansen is the consummate frontman, belting out pitch-perfect howls while nimbly providing the audience with precise and astonishing leads that are creative without lapsing into self-indulgent wankery. Hansen's presence is augmented by guitarist Tyler Breuer's tight rhythm playing, Patrick Bowden's astounding drumming, vocals, and harmonica, and bassist Tim Rynder's driving, low-end. On stage, the Knew brings it like few bands I have ever seen. Those who haven't seen the band yet are missing out."

"How fun was that?... Seriously, how frickin awesome was that record?"
----------Jake Schroeder, 99.5FM The Mountain, 1/14/08
"...Their sound is country slam dancing with garage rock, punk square dancing with the blues. Their playing was tight, accomplished and damn tasty. It doesn't hurt a bit that they look and feel like a proper rock band, kind of outlandish and half-wild, oozing confidence and manic enthusiasm...left me basking in the afterglow and inspired by what's going on in the local scene...
----------Cory Casciato, Westword online Music Blog, 6/4/07
"...Their heavy, raw, garage-band sound is reminiscent of the White Stripes and The Hives, yet they bring an understated southern-rock component that makes it their own...Some slide guitar and tambourine shakes adds a maturity to the live experience, but their modest approachability is what makes them worth leaving your house for. The Knew will provide discordant, fast tempo songs...that will be sure to impress even the most cynical stylite."

The marriage of punk and roots music was consummated long ago, but the relationship hasn't stopped working, and the Knew know it. Holladay...is lively, raucous and smart enough to get out while the getting's good. "It's on Fire," the disc's opener, flares up quickly, with guitarist/vocalist Jacob Hanson wailing about "all the cool, cool people" while fellow six-stringer Tyler Breuer riffs it up and drummer Patrick Bowden shows how sturdy a rickety beat can be. "Salazar" varies the formula with some chain-gang moaning, while "He's a Thief" offers a tempo as speedy as the wordplay ("Run as fast, as fast as you can/From this man who's not a man/ He's a thief!").The disc, recorded with Hot IQs' Brian Feuchtinger, sports just five songs and ends in under sixteen minutes. Fortunately, it's time well spent.

"...the guitars spitting a bluesy twang and the vocals somehow both wavering and unrelenting, but writing The Knew off as a White Stripes copycat would be far too reactionary...a veritable guide to Denver's quality rock and roll."

"...Holladay...delivers a slab of amped up, bluesy garage rock fortified with a solid slug of Denver cowpunk. Live, these guys play like their lives depend on it..."
----------Cory Casciato, Westword, 'Movers and Shakers 2007,' 12/20/07
"...The band uses its freshly minted self confidence for altruistic purposes. The Knew wants the crowd to embrace its energy and bask in the glow of its low-tech revelry..."
