Host Chris K., aka the Goat, is no stranger to the Colorado music scene ... he has been on the air in Northern Colorado off and on since 1977, with on-air stints at KPAW (classic rock), KGLL (country), KCSU (public radio, Americana, rock & jazz shows), KSQI (AOR & AAA), KIMN (CHR / Hot AC), KUAD (Top 40 / AC) and more. He is arguably the first dj in NoCo to have ever played a rap record on the radio (KUAD - 1978) or in a mainstream, mass-appeal dance-club (Theo's, Greeley, 1978).
Over the decades, Chris' articles, essays, criticisms, reviews, and editorials have appeared online and in local, regional and national publications like Scene Magazine, FMQB, the Album Network, GodsofMusic.com, Makeastar.com, C0nsensus.com and more. Chris also books bands into various venues regionally, has appeared on many regional stages as performer and/or emcee, and has done front of house sound and recording work.
Chris currently serves on the entertainment / talent advisory committees for the CHUN (Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods) People's Fair in Denver, and the Bohemian Nights New West Fest in Fort Collins, CO. He is also the main-stage emcee at both events and the Ultimate Music Experience (Denver), and the main-stage stage manager for the People's Fair. In addition, Chris is also the co-owner and managing partner of MileHighMusicStore.com -- specializing in music from the Rockies ... and writes the column "View From Behind the Mic" appearing monthly in the Colorado Music Buzz magazine.
Recently, Chris has been spending time on the phone talking to radio stations around the state who say they'd love to play more Colorado music -- if they got it. So was born the Rocky Mountain Music Network. Dedicated to helping Colorado music find its way to Colorado radio willing to show the love and support. ;)
Known affectionately as the "picky grumpy old goat" by his closest friends, Chris K. has been a character in the music scene along the Front Range of Colorado in four decades now.

Sounds Like: There has been considerable talk the past couple of years as to what really constitutes the "Colorado Sound."

Some folks liken it to the music of Slim Cessna, Munley, 16 Horsepower, Ghost Buffalo and other Goth-country acts. Sure, this style of Goth-country does seem to be unique to Colorado ... but we are sooooooo much more than that ...

The Colorado Sound encompasses nationally and internationally known acts and artists like:
Dianne Reeves (Jazz),
Dave Gruisin (Jazz),
Nelson Rangell (Jazz),
All (Punk),
Leftover Salmon (Rock, Americana),
the String Cheese Incident (Jamband),
Big Head Todd & the Monsters (Rock),
The Fray (Pop),
Phillip Bailey (Soul, Gospel),
Richie Furay (Country-rock, Gospel),
Yonder Mountain String Band (Jamgrass),
Drew Emmitt (Jamgrass, jamband),
Five Iron Frenzy, (Punk),
Otis Taylor (Blues),
Corey Harris (Blues),
Eddie Turner (Blues, Rock)
the Apples in Stereo (indie rock/pop)
Dressy Bessy (indie rock/pop)
Devotchka(inde world pop)
.. and considerably more, who have passed through over the decades, or were raised here and moved on.

The Colorado Sound is not a sound, so much as it is an expression of who we are ... it cannot be easily defined by a single genre or style.
Type of Label: Indie
