About Me

..Music was the light at the end of a period of unspeakable darkness for Liz Wood aka Bring me back.Heavily influenced by the grunge scene she started singing and writing at the tender age of 17. She briefly attended the Rock n Roll High School in Melbourne for women in Rock- supported aptly by Courtney Love where she joined the band Slack. However, music was put to the side as she veered towards the bleaker side of life- eventually though a voice like this does not stay hidden for long and thankfully a return to form came when she was 27.Feeling like a fish out of water at the thought of playing on Australian music circuit she moved to London. With a voice described as a female Jeff Buckley and music to match- Liz has been accepted onto the London live circuit with open arms. This time though- she means business.I want to record an album this year and play as many gigs as possible with as many great musicians as I can. She explains. Personally this year has been the best musically for me. Playing for the first time live in London, meeting lots of brilliant and talented musicians and having an opportunity to be a part of a brilliant indie acoustic scene in London...has changed my perspective on music insurmountably. You’d be mad not to catch this lady sing.- Tara McWeeney“Bring me Back came on. She simply blasted the previous day’s cob webs out of my head. Her voice was almost operatic but with that rare ability to pick its place for wailing. She was clearly nervous but grew and grew in stature with each applause, one to watch.” - Brian Kelly, Who’s Jack Magazine“A 21st Century Janis Joplin” – Will Rees, Electroacoustic Club

Sounds Like:"Born in Australia but quite clearly Scillian, Elizabeth Woods AKA The Godmother was an outsider from the beginning. She battled her way through the ruthless suburbs of Melbourne, scrapping for food and alchohol. It was during one of these fights she developed her battle cry. So sweet was the sound that it swooned apponents into a blissfull meloncholic reflection. She began to realise it was better to swoon than to slaughter and set about bringing her beautiful voice to the masses. She has never completely shaked her violent past and rumours of assinating grating tuneless musicians have constantly dogged her." - Bri Bri (IdeaMotion)
