About Me

It is morning down on the farm and the crisp winter sun brews over the cows and the sheep, frosting their fur in a coat of dew.
Rising and shining, Jemima stretches out of her bed. She can hear the jingle of bells as her ginger cat comes mewing and chortling for some breakfast.
The view from her bungalow is magical. Great oak trees tower over with their burnt-orange leaves rusting on the ground. The Squirrel darts from branch to branch – residing in the bird hut. The chicken’s squawk from their roosting house, and man-made noise is nowhere to be heard. Even the tractors are silent this morn.
And so Jemima picks up her guitar and crafts a story by her windowsill. She writes of love, loss, hope, the sun, the winter. And then after the day is done, she will meet her boys in the barn where they each will play their musical toys: Bash, tap, tinkle, strum, smooth, pick, ponder, blow, breath.
They call themselves She Tells Lies. Because she does.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.shetellslies.com
Band Members: Just me, Jemima Rose and sometimes/previously some other lovely people
Influences: Well I used to sit in the back of the car, driving on winding mountain roads in the south of france with my family, listening to Pearl Jam and The Beatles, Steely Dan and Neil Young. Now I live in a Cow Shed in a valley with my Ginger Tom and my wood burner, where I sit by the window looking out into the bleakness, shrouded by great oak trees and a moonlit sky, dreaming of adventures, swimming in the sky and falling in love.
Sounds Like: " ...With melancholic electro-acoustic sketches, it's more Elliott Smith introspection than KT Tunstall gusto. Singer Jemima Rose's honeyed Jewel-like vocals rise pleasingly above the purposeful strumming"Venue, September 2007

You Decide

Should I do a songwriting stint again? But this time not for a month! No! Not! How long? A week? Three days? Something that is not going to make me sick.
