FRESH SUMMER SOUNDS

About Me

Born in the Groove Cafe in Raumati South, Kapiti Coast of New Zealand, the Groove Assembly band takes a chilled out approach to life and music.A bunch of people who all get along and love to play together, walk on the beach, wander in the bush, eat good food and really live life to the full. Most of the six members live in Kapiti and one lives up the Otaki Gorge. They all play in other bands.Groove Assembly likes to invite special guests to play with them live and record with them. Some of the illustrious guests on the Roll Call album are: Matiu Tehuki from Homefires Burning and Basscamp; Yonier, cuban MC; Mabeth Ciurans, latin percussionist; The Wind Chill Factor Brass Section; Nathan Hopper, guitarist; and also Daniel Weetman from The Black Seeds has also played live with Groove Assembly.Groove Assembly's album 'Roll Call' is due to be released in 2007. This was recorded over two afternoons with eight 5-10 minute takes. One for each track. Overdubs of special guests and editing and mixing took place over seven days. The recording was done in response to continued requests for CDs at gigs.Groove Assembly's music is mostly improvised over a groove structure so is always fresh and 'in the moment'. Even lyrics and melodies are created in response to the moment.
