Drew was raised in Taupo, New Zealand.He recorded his first demos in Melbourne, 1985, with a little help from Robbie Dillan(Colin Hay Band) , Bill McDonald(Paul Kelly)Steve Williams(JoJoZep) & James Reyne(Australian Crawl). 85 Formed 1st band "The Rockweilers" playing bars and clubs in Melbourne.
86 Joined rock band "Rooda" with Pete Warren ,Dave Gent & Andy Langsford for a rocking 6 months around NZ, including some special guests such as Dave Dobbyn, Graham Brazier, Dilworth Karaka & sadly missed Charlie Tumahai .We recorded an EP @ Stebbings Studio(Auckland)
87 teamed up with Pete again, Paul Scott Ace Mason & Martin ONeill forming "Big Trouble" house band for the Palladium niteclub in Christchurch,NZ.Recorded a bunch of songs @Niteshift studio.
89 "Big Trouble" became a 3 piece with Pete on drums, Marty on bass and myself on gat. We toured around the South Island staying in Queenstown for the winter to arrive at a well earned break around October.
90 "No Trouble" Marty & I rocking around the Nelson region with an EPS and "Yuanita"
91 I travelled to LA meeting some fine people helping me along the way.
92 Formed "Strange Desire" with Geoff Hern(bass), Michael Stirling (gat) & Jessie White(drums), heading for Queenstown again. Drew met up with ole buddy Ross McDermott and beagan plotting how to record his first Cd.
94 Began Solo..
95 Back to hometown Taupo more gigs solo & duo with Marin Leusink
96 Began rumaging for recording equipment.
98 Finalist in NZ Showcase TV1.
00 Released debut CD "Out Comes The Sun" Produced by Ross.Musicians include Ross,Geoff, Michael, Micky Ututoanga(drums).
Made the move to Melbourne (Mornington Peninsula) with my family.
04 Released "The Waters Edge" in Auz. Band members included Ross & Geoff(bass), Michael(gat & bvz),Geoff Duncan(gat), Cam Hyde(keys), Andy Richardson, Richard Teone & Grant Weinstein (drums) Gigged around Melbourne and The Peninsula for the next 18 months.
05 June I put my gats in the Shed & closed the doors in need on some inspiration. November I got a call from Adam Johnstone (Soundvault records) saying a worldwide TV show wanted 2 songs from 'The Waters Edge" . Feeling inspired he reopened the "Shed" but couldnt see his gats as the creepers had gone wild thru the gaps in the wall.He pruned them all back and started writing again.He should have taken a photo!!
07 New years day eve recorded 8 live solo acoustic songs "Live in The lounge" at Donnelly's Crossing, Northland NZ whilst on holiday,with friends and family just cruising around the house.
OCT began recording with Pete & Chris in The Shed
DEC 08 Completed "Be Still" Drew Bowden 3 Cd
MARCH 09 "Be Still" release in NZ so far have had great revues.Check blog.
